Anyone know how long the barns in Chicago, St Louis, and KC been closed?


That board is in the hallway at Joplin just kinda trying to put a sorta kinda date to it

 

It wasn't easy at first. I used to have hardcore social anxiety. I did it more for me to try and break out of my shell at first. That was over 2 years ago now. Those furry friends definitely helped me overcome that obstacle and I love going in, chatting with the shelter staff, playing with and walking the animals.

I remember last winter I volunteered to help out around the shelter for a few hours. They had me socialize some new dogs to the shelter (basically just play with them and tire them out). One young dog was so terrified she came into the kennel all skitish and just layed at my feet, afraid to go anywhere else. By the end of our playtime she turned into this playful little ball of energy. Even the shelter staff couldn't believe it.

Another dog was there for just over 7 months. I walked him every visit that he was available. He went to a temporary foster home for a month. The first time I walked him after he came back he dodged the kennel attendant and jumped on me. Silly bugger just about knocked me over.

Moments like those just make it worth it. Bittersweet because I hate to leave them there. When I see the announcement on Facebook that they've been adopted though I'm just overjoyed. Knowing I helped make their stay at the shelter more enjoyable is a great feeling.

 

Its not easy to walk away and leave them there that's for sure. I would love to have him here chilling on the couch with me right now but I know there's a family out there that can give him a better life than I can. I'd hate to leave him cooped up in my apartment for 13 hours straight while I'm at work.

 

I tried volunteering and ended up taking home 3 dogs!! My wife forbid me to go back!!

 

Believe me it takes every ounce of self control to not do just that.

 

I gotta couple wants to breed their female to Doc. I ain't sure, I cant get a straight answer on what they are gonna do with the puppies. Sure they want one and I get one but that leaves several. Even when they are sold it doesn't guarantee a good home. Heelers can test even Jobes patients


To add I dang sure don't want another dog. This one needy lil basturd is plenty.
