To be fair, FFE wanted wife to become trainer after I broke her in a year or two. Then we both train on salary approaching 200K annual total to the home if not more. This was in the 2000 time frame

Im not sure what the joint taxes would be on that much.

    ANYWAY.

DO NOT sign or hire onto a company in debt to them for CDL training. Don't do it. Save your money (Two people wanting a CDL School... you are looking at around 8000 to 12000 cash total for two) and pay the CDL yourself cold cash and in your pocket before you start looking for companies to hire on.

This is a lifetime journey. Nothing will come easy in this industry, but when you overcome the tuition yourselves and gain that CDL from your home state then hire on free and clear to any company who covets a husband wife team (They all do....) you will see that very high pay is possible. As in 120 to 250K per year to the household account. That is why you must consider the expenses of school between say 8 to 12K nothing at all and easily paid.

That's another reason we went with covenant. They train together plus they have tuition reimbursement - an extra bit on your check every month to help you pay payments on your cdl school. Not a bad company to work for either. So far they seem very safety conscious, and we have been treated very well.

Hi MBAngel, my partner and I are wanting to go in the covenant direction after we finish our training at a community college. I was wondering if you had any updates as to how well it's going so far. Thanks! Amy and Jackie

We are having a great time driving for covenant. We love our fleet team. The benefits and pay are at least industry average. The healthcare is great. They run us out of hours every week. Our truck is awesome and if anything needs repair, they fix it. Give them a try!

My hubby and I going start CDL school next month and the options for training OTR together are quite limited. How is it going with Covenant now that you've been there a while? How is the pay? Can anyone recommend any other companies? We live in Las Vegas and would like to find a company with a terminal here for home time.

If Covenant hires in Las Vegas, then go with Covenant. If they hire in Las Vegas, that means home time will not be a problem.
Their sister, SRT - www.southernref.com does hire in Las Vegas, but it's refrigerated. Not sure if the training for husband/wife teams is the same as Covenant.
Anyway, Covenant is a good place for you to start this new career.
