Earlier this month, I ran into a Schneider lease purchase driver in Carlisle, PA. He only runs the northeast with Schneider's choice program and have been with th hem for a few years. According to him, he is making very good money and have weekly home time. He do a lot of shorter runs, less than 200 miles and do multiple loads daily. Almost all of his loads are drop and hooks. He claim to get minimum $2/mile and gross at least $1k/day.

Have you tried calling around for your own customers? Business cards? Relying on someone else for work is not exactly being independent.

Thank you for your assistance, I'm sure it will help me to locate a freight company to lease onto immensely. I will start calling all the people who I have moved across the country right away.
-
Not sure if you understood me correctly.
Finding your own customers and leasing on to a company while working for them and moving their freight is not the same thing.
Nothing wrong with leasing your truck to a company. If thats where you are comfortable with then follow what you know. -
Yes I am looking for somewhere to put my truck. I have weighted the pro's and cons of own authority vs leasing many times. Years ago I entertained getting my own rights. But today dealing with brokers, invoices, sales calls, waiting to get paid, no back office support. Is something I could do, but not interested in doing. I considered going land star or admiral merchants. But not sure how much busy and profitable I would be, running the areas I want to run.
