I got my class A alone and it was hard, primarily because i had no access to a class 8 truck and every time i was testing it was also the first drive. Never got to practice any of it.

If you dont have friends with trucks make some. Otherwise youll have to rent it. More than anything else, is practice.

If you atleast get your B permit you may find a dumptruck company willing to bring you for road test so you can get started racking up experience immediately.

Well this is true to a point. The documentation for the verification isn't all that strict.

I hesitate to offer real world advice but here is it.

OP, you don't have to put a thing down if you didn't actually have a "job".

The fmcsa (actually the US DOT) just wants your employment record to prevent you reentering the industry if you did something wrong.

YOU can leave the app blank and when asked, you can tell them "I was living off my girlfriend" or say "I was living with my parents helping them out".

How does one actually verify this?

    You don't.

On top of that if they refuse you employment and tell you that this is the reason, then you can make a big stink about it to the state.

    Sauirm256 Thanks this.
