and rigid schedules leave you more drained i think. i'm looking at going back otr because i work 12 -14 hours a day, and what is the point of earning good money if you're always to exhausted to spend it.
OTR has its down sides, only a fool would argue that. but all of us truckers are selling our time for money, like prostitutes except it takes us a whole day to make what they do in a hour. lol.
i'm sick of the same routes, same paperwork, same everything every day. I feel like my brain is turning to mush, (but the H2S is probably helping with that). I miss not knowing what tomorrow will bring.
its like turning yourself over to the will of fate as opposed to being a horse that plows the same field every day until they die in it.

fall is setting in, I miss being otr this time of year before winter. driving all day with the window down though somewhere like I15 in utah, its not to cold you cant stand it. and it feels like the universe is just leaving you alone.

The OTR guys do have one advantage over us. We work 12 hours and THEN have the commute to deal with on top of that, while they shut down wherever they park.

I bet I can get home in less time than it takes them to find an open parking spot.

That’s not a problem with proper trip planning, including but not necessarily limited to knowing where a few secret hidey holes may be. ;)

So I supposed that means you aren’t particularly interested in teaming? :laughing6: :biggrin_25520:

I don't know how guys do it lol. I know there is huge money in it and it's a great gig at a lot of places but I start to get on my own nerves about 12 hours in lol.

I always found a dead-looking exit, place with a DOT salt pile or a dirt lot. A place where I could take a nice quiet country walk after I woke up.

Or in Wyoming, one inside where they were likely to close the road so I could drive out. When I did that it took no time at all, I was waiting longer for the elog to respond to my off-duty than to park.

But yeah, enough of the "fart-coffin" after a while.
