If you know how to handle an automatic you can put in any hole you want. Ha ha

From what I've seen the bar is set so low you'd have to dig down 6 feet just to find it
magoo68 Thanks this. -
Straight out I’m glad they have automated transmissions .. I followed a rookie through a two lane Rocky Mountain road .. It reminded of the old days following guys who mis shift and stop going uphill because they can’t find a gear .. PS I prefer standard

That is where manual comes in, you can get intimate with your rig and she just comes out of there.
ONCE in a while... Im Lordy not that Humble but I have been laid low and humbled by the sight of a very old hand get in and ease her out of a hole I dug trying to get out. It's that weight. If you dont go this way you go down.
Then he thinks Im not worthy.
I like my drives to get a bite to eat on ice. Wife lost it but we both saw it coming with that increase in grade and steep combined with tighter curve radius and shade tree over the ice ahead. West of knoxville.
That auto followed wife down and did bite when I moved the wheel 3 inches to get out of the tractor jackknife.
Im so happy I did not have to take her to how to recapture the drives with the manual that day, it would have been too much. I told her to freeze her limbs just like shes at and be statue. And eventually we got out, number two got out, but three through seven fell into the canyon. TMC in partiuclar used his drives to hold his high flatbed load upright backwards. That was... epic. Props. Breaks all the rules int he book except one.
Protect the load. -
Switched over to an automatic last year and didn't find out how bad they were until the first snow hit tonight. They're fine for fair weather and flat land use. But I feel for icy roads and downgrades, I better get a will written up for myself.
Maintenance simplicity, or some sort of package deal to save the company money I could understand. But to cater to the special types? Eh, time for those people to find a different job. My opinion on that one anyway.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
Oh sonny, you can stop the earth with a good 13, 15 or 18. Many options.
And if you choose correctly you will waltz out of spots many autos need a tow from. -
Downgrade?
If it does not have a manual mode there is a problem. I know that some will champion autos on ice and snow. Whoo hoo have at it. But I will have my manual mode or a manual transmission and do it myself. If that requires me to change jobs? So be it. What a waste.bentstrider83 Thanks this.
