O&S sucks!!!!!!If that little sawed off prick ED is still involved then they still suck.He is a crook from the jump I have paperwork where a truck a driver turned in had been written up for an oil leak the guy told them about it several times for 3 months and ed did nothing to the truck in the shop...the driver quit turned in the trk they kept his money to "fix the truck" and Ed put on the paperwork DO NOT FIX...then put the truck back on the lot to sell another driver...

I was going to do the lease thing once. I saved my money, then bought a Glock 9mm with the money. I took the new gun then shot myself in the foot, it was just like doing the lease thing with any mega company, but alot less pain.:biggrin_25525:

I was employerd at O$S as a company driver for 9 years. They decided that they were going totally L/P and O/O and did everything they could to fire the company drivers! And they have except for a few they kept to do those loads that the L/Ps and O/O wont touch! Jim Oneal (the O in O&S) is now making a TON off of those fools that signed the lease! I know that most of the loads from Tyson are 2.45 a mile and on average never less than $2.00 on other reefer loads. They are getting rid of the dry van division (loosing R&B {outbound unless they load onto a reefer}and Bass Pro who won't load outbound on reefers)ro in the process. So when you figure that he's paying a paltry .98 CPM then whatever the FSC is (maybe .25CPM) then you KNOW who's making the money by giving you the priveledge of paying him to work errr excuse me...making such great mileadge pay! All the differential is money in his pocket as the tags insurance and other costs aren't equeal to the balance left from reefer pay!

December 2nd 2days before they fired me I did a drop and hook at their "new" yard in Springfield,OH and one of those big time L/P drivers came over and actually tried to recruit me for L/P! (O&S truck numbering is O&S for company, LP for lease and whatever your 2 initials are for O/O.) I started to laugh at him when he told me that he was "neting" 1200 a week and this AFTER him telling me while pissed off that he was "only" getting 2500-2700 miles a week! I can do that math in my head! But what do you expect out of a 30 year old who screwed up and signed a legal documnemt without letting a lawyer laugh oops read it over to you and tell you where you will get screwed!

As stated above if you can't afford to buy your own truck and trailer with all the expences then you can't afford a lease! They are set up for YOU to do all the work, repairs and sweat and the company make all the money!

Also, why in the world would you lease a FREIGHTLINER with 500,000 or more miles on it and 2,3,4 years old and "THINK" you'll get a good trade in value when you finally finish the lease! I'll tell you right now a Columbia or Century with anything over 500,000 miles will NOT get you $25,000 on a trade! It'll get you maybe $9,000 IF you're lucky and only if you took care of the truck (actually were the only driver in that thing) and didn't drill holes in the dash, put velcroe and duct tape all over the dash, smoke in the truck (That nasty assed habit {Because you're a wimp} will cut the cost of ANY vehicle by 17% as the smoke can't be gotten out of the vents and from behind and under the dash and paneling!) or not vacune on at least a weekly bacisis! There is NO resale value for a Freightliner and you put all that money into a looser truck! If you're going to be an O/O then buy something with a resale value at the end, like Petes, KW's or Western Stars! And forget that stand up out of the seat crap! As long as the sleeper is tall enough that's all you need and just how much crap do you need in the truck anyway? Weight is weight and non profit weight goes into the loss colum of your P&L statement! And another thing: Untill your name is on the title don't rip the trim out, drill holes for that POS CB, throw out shelves or that metal peice that goes in over the CB opening, or the drawer or cut wires off for that sucky AM/FM/whatever radio and CB! IT"S NOT YOUR TRUCK TILL YOU PAID FOR IT!

Anyway, back to O&S. (sorry I had to vent about these moron truckers who can't take care of something that costs MORE that the mobile home they live in!) They WERE a good company until Jim Oneal started to get big and some of the people he brought in to safety and other offices just sucked the "family" out of an otherwise GREAT company to work for! But reread the part about leasing a truck! And a little more advice: There is NO such thing as "NO FORCED DISPATCH"! Yes you MIGHT get to choose from several different loads but in the long run they will average your miles out so all drivers get about the same weekly average! Take the first load given and you will actually be given better loads as the dispatchers and LC's KNOW you'll do the job! Quit whining like you're a wannabe O/O because till that truck has YOUR name on it you're at their mercy! Then go get your own authority, trailer and brokers and make REAL money! You already are paying for all the headaches that goes with trucking now reap all of the rewards!

Howdy! I do not have the required fifty posts' and thus unable to send you a PM. Can you please elaborate on your negative O&S experience? I am seriously considering joining O&S and would like to hear all sides. Thanks in advance.

Leasing a truck is = to renting an office to do business. Take it or leave it.

All I can say is O&S'es fleece program is better than any of the others except for JCT which I saw on your other post won't work for you as a plane ticket once a month will cost you more than you will be making.

O&S will be better for you as they do Campbell's Soup out of Maxim, NC and that's about 160 miles from your home.

I can't in any honesty advise you to take a fleece! If you do not have the money to buy a truck, trailer and authority and have the operating capital saved, why would you think a fleece is a good idea? All these other drivers falling to the side of the road and people think THEY can make it work!

I made on my last W-2 $72,000 as a company driver for O&S. 2 times better than the fleece drivers. I had some yoyo try to actually recruit me AFTER he stood there and cried as told me he wasn't getting but 2500 miles on average THEN have the balls to tell me he was bringing home $1000-1500 a week! At .89 CPM those numbers don't add up and I had to tell that child why and trying to BS an old BSer wouldn't work. The idiot actually wanted to fight me because I had actually called him a lier in a polite way! He couldn't handle the truth!

Please read all the "bad company" threads. THINK long and hard about putting your neck in a noose! I know how hard it is being over 55 with your experience and needing a job. I haven't worked since Aug 7th of 09 and I have had several offers from fleece companies and NONE from company driver companies. I'm loosing everything I own but to take a fleece is NOT a solution! My credit sucks as it is but to starve my wife and kids worse than what we are going through now (thanks O&S and Rose for loading up my DAC) is stupidity! You can't live on what these fleece drivers are making! I make more on unemployment that they do after the truck (net) so I'll stay where I am til these companies come to their senses and start to hire us experienced drivers again! And some of these used to be honest companies drop this Leese insanity crapola!

Good luck on your decision, but please, as I said think a lot harder about it! Look at the numbers better than what you have.
    Rollover.
