Thats what i do in Pa. Get physcial a week or so ahead of time and watch the nice folks at the DMV send it directly to Harrisburg. If it expires they will drop your CDL at midnight on that day.
Wait.... So you can no longer take your physical on the last day?

Whatever the the expiration date on the card states, is the day you have to have your exam done by. Go to the DMV and self-certify in person. Get the name of the person who helps you and request a copy of the self cert.

My last one the doc sent it in the computer same day to the DMV. Maybe they’re up on the new technology now?
-
The docs here claim they can not register it with the state, what they do have to register is voiding your old one, doesn't even make sense to my way of thinking.
It genersally takes the state a few days to suspend you commercial driving privileges.
I let mine xpire this lat go round for a couple of weeks, then registered it online for the first time, a month or so later my commercial driving privileges were suspended, so I went to the mvd and registered it like I always have and was back up and running the same day. -
You are at the mercy of your state dmv. There may be a waiting period to process.
-
You can get your physical done anytime you want. You just can't drive after the expiration date if you don't get it done.
-
I am curious, do you know of any state that has a waiting period to process. Our dmv registers it right when you give it to them (in person) my online registration didn't work out well.
