You can still do okay there if you out the work in. We use Werner to bring in stuff from Seattle at work. Seattle to Tampa dedicated run 3200 miles. Back and forth constantly. Even at a lower cpm those guys are probably still making more than most just because of the crazy amount of miles they get. Two of them are 2 million milers and one is a 1 million miler so they are doing something right.

I average 1200 weekly as a 2 year rookie ain’t the best but the company treats me good enough for me to stay. Top of that I don’t have much expenditures, cook in my own truck and fill up the truck at Walmart’s on the ones that allow overnight. Usually if you make your dispatcher’s job easy they put you higher in priority for the big money runs. I’ve found the ones that complain the most are the ones always sitting at the truckstops and they’re usually the roamers that go company to company every 6 months and also the type to moan and groan and refuse deliveries to trouble spots. Take the good with the bad and keep going.

It could also be that Tim is just not a motivated and productive driver. He dreamed of peaches but his career handed him lemons. He didn't have the ambition to find better money. I want to take up full-time OTR driving in hopes (knocks on wood) it will lead to my new house in about five years' time of solid driving. I know I can't be a crappy performer to score that new home in the future. Don't even truck drivers still have to EARN their keep? I once heard man who was a painter for a contractor make the remark that truck drivers are "lazy".

Here's two more companies that hire new cdl grads with terminals in Denver:
    W. W. Transport - tanker dry bulk
    Navajo Express - refrigerated
Here's one in Greeley that hires from Sage only & maybe from Careers Worldwide:
Dairy Farmers of America - milk tankers

Whoa there ... new drivers are not the only problem, crap drivers are always a problem and destroy a truck just as fast as a newbie, sometimes faster because they have practice.

I recently drove for cfi i did my research like your doing.. I went to there training program they paid for everything even room and board thats if they send you to crowder college neosho mo. Training was 3 weeks or up to 4 weeks basically untill you passed but they only give you a couple tries but up to around 4 weeks then i did 7500 miles with my trainer thats 3 weeks you do almost all of the driving i believe they start you at an amazing .26 from day 1 and they have a weird start out program that you go up every 10,000 basically to put you at about 36 year 1 but id say to anyone that went there to get your 3 months , 6 month,12 months experience marks whichever you driving job you want next. If you starting out dont take any dedicated route unless it bumps your pay up you wont make much money on a dedicated account as a company guy , of course people who are topped out at .48 will make more on dedicated.. Hope this is good use i started at cfi 3 months tried to get on with pepsi im fat i needed a sleep machine i didnt use it so missed that job then went to werner pay was good but drove me like a slave after 4 months i went back to cfi because werner truck idle annoyed me too much cfi does have idle but my trucks both times didnt have idle after 9 months with cfi i got a loan mountain truck stayed with cfi another year now im at mercer ... I have no ties but my experience with them was so good i gotta give them a shoutout to anybody wanting to become a driver.. I guess i can add they have automatic trucks and most are t680 kenworths there trailers do suck id definitely get a pipe to give you more and safer leverage.

    He's an idiot.
He actually hired on as a regional driver for the company I pull for a few years back, out of our Indy terminal.

    He's long gone.

He does have some basic points down.. but the doom and gloom is way over done.

I saw a few of his vids and quickly realized he spouted 90% nonsense.
He's not a long time trucker, either.
He came from another industry shortly before these were made, so he didn't have the time in to be making those accusations.

The longer you're in the biz, the safer and more dependable you are... the more you'll make.

Rookies have to earn their stripes.
