I think that is fiberglass, or plastic of some sort, nothing to rust.
I do not know what it was that busted up, but an OO I know bought a new slope nosed pete and tried to run it up here. All I know is the cab busted up and Pete has been furnishing him a mew truck for over a year now, while the lawsuit is pending.

I know three people just here in town that have had the floor break out on them. Doubt that Paccar would say there was/is a problem.

can someone "enlighten" me on this as well...??

is the cab of that truck fiberglass..????

the o/p never said he bought a used truck, maybe he has had it since new?

if metal, could it be thinner metal (to cut down on weight)?

if fiberglass, wouldn't there have already been thicker "gussets" or flanges?

as someone else mentioned, that truck could have taken a very serious bump, but in all my years, i ain't never seen that sort of issue before.

    201 Thanks this.

A lot of floors are a combination of aluminum and fiberglass.

Bought truck used - put 100K on it. The floor is fiberglass with wood in between. Was told its design (using wood) is intentional to make the truck lighter, is a common problem in the T2000 and since the T700 was the follow on truck, they didn’t change the design/product, though they prolly should have. I’ve heard everything from replace the entire cab, to just install a wider/thicker metal plate in the repair area, and good to go......now has me thinking the other side will push through in time....never ending I suppose.

No the sky isnt falling. I could fab up something to repair that in under a day if that was my truck. If you cant tackle the job yourself, go to a shop that welds and fabricates. They will make up a plate for you

The floor is made out of SMC (Sheet Molding Compound) and plywood, you can’t weld it.

The solution to the problem is to repair the floor using the correct SMC materials and approved repair procedure.
