For an O/O of one and only one tractor, what are the annual net profits?

I've been playing a new game for the past couple days: American Truck Simulator.

I have my own small garage in Sacramento as my home base.

I took a couple loads as a company driver as a greenhorn then the bank gave me $130K in credit. I bought a new Kenworth W900 day-cab tractor, my first and only truck, and it was about $120K OTD. Now at Level 5, I take jobs from Freight Market and Contracts. Higher game levels open up more markets and provide opportunities for more equipment. One can eventually own and manage a fleet. I operate in the states of California, Arizona and Nevada only. This is the map scope of the game version I have. The job pay varies from about $2K to $7K a load. The customers provide trailers and they're no touch. I always try to take the highest paying loads available and $5K is common for me. I ran out of fuel a couple times. Emergency services brought me only 15 gallons of diesel and charged me a whopping $335 around Fresno! My Kenworth is averaging about 5-6 miles/gallon. Fuel prices in the game are about $2.75 a gallon. Upgrade equipment for the truck can be expensive. A new engine for $40K!!!!! A new transmission for $13K!!!!

One of the strategies I'm trying to develop is minimize bobtailing. The truck only pays with loads in tow. Ideally if I go from Fresno to Elko with a load I would like to come back into CA from NV with a load as well. Bobtailing is non-revenue for an O/O.

Is my PC sim game using realistic money figures in this game? Is it simming the truck business well?

In the real 18-wheel world, what is a single-tractor O/O really going to net for ONE typical load even in opulent California?

Here I am in my chartreuse KW picking up a $5K load in Barstow (this game doesn't allow me to put business signage on my truck doors yet):

It's a video game, do not apply any video game to real life.

That trailer is not legal in CA. You need side skirts. Better upgrade!

Honestly the game sounds really cool and pretty #### in depth. 5k load in Barstow going where? I’d say the purchase prices are about right, maybe a little high. Rates are very inflated.

I’d say it’s for sure a great insight into trucking though which is what a simulator should be.

The game shows you 5 and $7,000 loads. Does it show you taking cheap loads or sitting for days and days at a time? Does it take you through booking loads when times are great and then take you through booking loads when there's very little money to be made? Does it show you making call after call after call after call after call?

Does it show you other dollar figures? Like showing you that you're working around the clock, and when you're not working you're working on your truck. Does it show you the cost of what your divorce will be?

Does it show you what happens when your extended warranty runs out and you have $30,000 of emission problems? Does it show that happening when 6 brokers with those 5 6 and $7,000 loads haven't paid you yet and maybe won't pay you? Does it show you what that brand new Kenworth is costing you when you are down for that 3 or 4 weeks and you have no income and your account receivables aren't coming? Does it show when you have some kind of an electronic problem and you have to repower the load? Does it show you when you've had two blown tires in 2 weeks along with a few big DOT Tickets?

Does it show you tql booking you a round trip from California to Nevada and back? But you only receive the rate con instead of the Direction sheet and when you went to get your second load they said there is no such thing. Does it show you that tql said you're late so now you forfeit maybe half your load?

Does it show you making all kind of fat money and driving past the Harley-Davidson shop and you have to stop in and well you know what happens then...

Does it show you making all that money making your mortgage payment sending your kids to college sending your wife furs and sending your girlfriend diamonds and taking fat vacations and buying boats and Cadillacs? Does it show you a balance sheet with all of that?

It sounds like an interesting game but they need to consult with me to put a little more reality into it, lol.

play the games, ANY games for enjoyment and entertainment. but if you think it's all a game out here, then stay home.

many people buy new rigs and lose thier shirts AND pants with in the first 6 months to a year.

and why would you need a new engine or transmission, in a new truck..??

hard on the driving are you? skipping PM services are you?

play games. then when you want to become a REAL trucker, get a job and work about 2 to 5 years, THEN buy your own "new" rig, and see how fast you wish you didn't believe in games and fantasies...

Not even close to real . I played ATS and ETS , haven't in a while because I'm on the road . No sitting at shipper or receiver for 4 hrs and no canceled loads , that's the best part . Trying to jump thru hoops to get detention and going to a city that freight leaving only pays 1.15 pm . Fun game but I found I couldn't sit and play after running 60hrs in my truck .
