The saying "Dropping a dime on someone" meant you were going report them with a phone call.
Familiar phrase in my early years.
I think it went to a quarter in the late 80's

Operator (That's Not the Way It Feels) by Jim Croce
    Lyrics
… Operator, well let's forget about this call
There's no one there I really wanted to talk to
Thank you for your time, ah, you've been so much more than kind
And you can keep the dime… More

I answer the calls, and find a way to end it within 10 seconds. Then I block the call on my phone. I also block spam text messages. On the iPhone, once you block a number, it’s completely blocked.

Now, even though the numbers are blocked, the calls and voice messages will appear in the history. You won’t get any notifications of them, though. I know, with this method you will still receive calls or spam messages, but I believe that blocking the number should reduce the number of calls/messages.

Back to the original subject I set up my first company back in the 80s and still get calls occasionally from it and the other one started in the mid 90s. I actually still have the same cell phone number I had when I started with my Brick Phone. The reason behind this comment is I just had one of those calls annoying to say the least.
