hello maam, Of course your lungs feel better and you feel better overall. You arent burning a fire in your mouth with traditional smokes.
Nothing is suspect with esmokes or vapes, its hearsay. There is no research and analysis done on a professional level and nothing with a direct link. Its just liberal scare tactics and media hype that want more government control. Like i said in my previous post. Government and tobacco companies want you to smoke cigarettes. Dont fall for the scare tactics. Vape away or use your ecig.

From my less than current perspective, I think there's two things mainly going on:

    1. Bad stuff being put into cartridges that fit the newest reloadable, pod style vapes. These are marketed toward mainly new users that would otherwise get frustrated with rebuildable ones that can be hard to get to work right.

The problem is that limits you to only use pieces and parts that work with whatever vape gear you bought. Too many people I think assume the pods they buy off market must be ok since they fit.
I think it's worse than this. It hasn't been too long ago we were reading about bath salts and potpourri laced with synthetic THC. It would be crazy not to expect crap like that making it's way into off-market vape supplies. Especially products targeted to the tide-pod eating generation.

    2. Newer, high power vapes without temperature control. They are popular so people can do this.
Besides being a nuisance, there's a problem when ordinary vape liquids are heated above a certain threshold. 450ºF if I recall. Below that you're safely (relatively) inhaling fog machine stuff. Above that and toxins are created. Better units use tech to precisely control the temp of the atomizer. Cheaper ones? Well you get what you pay for. May as well smoke at that rate, since that's what you're effectively doing anyway.

I'll add a somewhat surprising to me (alarming maybe?) discovery at this point. I did a quick search to find a temperature chart graphic. What I found was lots of temp charts, but all specific to weed and how more intoxicants are released at higher temperatures. Which explains the appeal of high power vapes. People wanting to optimize to get more high. A guy like me vaping fog machine juice with nicotine in it has no use for that and I'd have never seen it otherwise.

Quoting only for context. For hard to quit smokers, or don't want to quit smokers like me, flavors are what got me off the burning tobacco. Nobody ever smoked cigarettes because it tastes good. For that reason hardly anyone would ever buy a vape product that is flavored to taste like it. It's probably the very first discovery made by everyone right after buying their first vape product.

Truth be told, kids would use dog poop flavored vape if someone told them it would give them a buzz and look cool. The flavor argument is just as dumb as when they banned flavored cigarettes and cloves 30 yrs ago.

Actually this is likely the least problematic group in my opinion. The #1 reason for making vape liquid at home is to save money. Closely followed by being careful what you're putting in your lungs. Those that actually make their own liquids are also using rebuildable vape products, so as a rule better able to avoid a hazardous situation with high temp or refill modules of unknown origin.

I do vape lighly BUT never when I am on the road. Vaping make dry mouth because of the nicotine ...this make you drink more liquids the results is making you go pee more, not good when you are on the road.

All of the problems have been with people mixing their own vape juice.

issue on this wasn't nic vaping. It was THC vaping and people getting bootleg China E-Juice. It had Vitamin E in it. Which was toxic in the lungs. So this is a big nothing burger for legal vapers.

Been vaping since Sept 2011, been mixing my own juice since Feb 2012.

People who make their own aren't at risk, we know what goes into our liquid and it's just 4 things.
VG - Vegetable Glycerin, fog machine juice that has been in use for decades and is what makes the huge clouds.
PG - Propylene Glycol, a non-toxic antiseptic that is used for non-toxic antifreeze and is FDA approved for use as a cleaning agent on food preparation surfaces, is used in many cosmetics, and used as a sweetener and base in many foods and beverages consumed daily (such as soft service ice cream). Hospitals are also known to use it in their air vents for air sterilization. One of the first reports of this was a study done in a childrens hospital in the 1960s that revealed less respiratory illnesses in the children when PG was used in the air vents.
Flavors - Food grade commercial flavoring. Not the stuff available at walmart or other grocery stores, but commercial grade stuff that is much more concentrated. Want to know where else it's used? Every single product you buy that lists "natural and/or artificial flavoring" in it's ingredients. You've been consuming it since the day you were born.
Nicotine - This one actually has the biggest misconceptions about it. Yes it is addictive, but in it's pure form studies have shown it is actually no more addictive then caffeine and does have medical benefits such as reducing the chance to get alzheimer's. Cigarettes contain MAO Inhibitors which are used as powerful antidepressants and are controversial because they are HIGHLY addictive due to altering your brains chemistry to open it up to developing addictions to stuff that you wouldn't normally be susceptible to. Studies have shown that rats fed pure nicotine felt no desire to obtain more whereas rats fed nicotine combined with MAOIs had a desire to obtain more, they became addicted. BTW, the withdrawal symptoms and craving you get when you can't smoke a cigarette? Headache, irritability etc? These are actually the withdrawal symptoms of not getting MAOIs when you are addicted to them. As such, you DO get these symptoms if you suddenly switch to vaping without weaning yourself off cigarettes. Getting the nicotine but not the MAOIs so you still get the standard withdrawal symptoms associated with cigarettes.

Then there are all the other pathetic misconceptions about vaping used to scare people away from quitting smoking.
Formaldehyde? Nah. It's actually something your body produces to aid in the digestion of fruits and veggies. Studies have been done that show inhaling it doesn't effect levels in your blood because it gets metabolized upon contact with the lining of your mouth, throat, and lungs. It is used in making fabric, wood laminate, most plastic, and used as a coating for pills and all these things release it into the air you breathe for years after being manufactured. All cancer cases related to formaldehyde have been factory workers who handle it.
Popcorn Lung? This is caused by diacetyl which is the chemical responsible for butter flavor in many things including microwavable popcorn. Most eliquids don't contain it because manufacturers stopped using it years ago due to the potential health risks. But besides that, there has never been a single case of popcorn lung outside of factory workers besides one person who ate several bags of microwavable popcorn daily for over a decade. Cigarettes also contain it and lack of popcorn lung from smoking them should be proof enough that there is no risk.
Batteries Blowing up? Yep, that happens when you push a battery beyond it's limits. Same can happen if you short out a car battery. But, here's the real kicker, any lithium battery can overheat and explode if something goes wrong and how many products nowadays use them? They explode in these other products as well but you hardly ever hear about it because it wont gain attention. A news outlet reporting cell phones are dangerous due to the possibility of a battery exploding would be looked at as a joke because cell phones are so common, but dozens do explode every year due to damage, over heating, or just faulty chargers.

All you have to do is follow the money. The tobacco industry has suffered massive profit hits since vaping came around, some companies have reported up to 20% decrease in sales in some countries due to vaping and that's no small figure when looking at an industry that earns dozens of billions per year. Pharmaceutical companies are taking hits because vaping actually works so people aren't buying other cessation devices or seeking medical treatment. Governments are loosing the massive tax income cigarette sales provides, money that goes to funding all kinds of stuff, including schools. Virtually every single negative report about vaping has some link to somebody that gains money off cigarette sales, either funded by them, or the researchers employed by them. If an article doesn't list *all* the people involved (and most negative ones are light on those details) then consider it fake.
