UPS put a few billion dollars into the rail network like six or seven years ago and it didn't work. That's why they are hiring so many sleeper teams now.

Yea we had our benefits meeting the other day and I guess there’s a bit of purple flight going on with UPS hiring so much in the Chicagoland area according to the HR guy. 26 drivers left so far. A couple 10-14 year guys. I hope they know what there getting into with the sleeper teams. Wouldn’t wish that lifestyle on anyone. Been there done that.

That purple flight is also probably accelerated by the changes to our insurance coming this open enrollment, none of which I might add are overly terrible or even uncommon for insurance these days. I’m still happy with the insurance options offered for next year.

Those guys probably figure it’s an in for a permanent spot and will slide over to a regular feeder gig in the future.

They have no idea what they are getting into lol. It's not a bad gig (feeder) but it's not as laid back as FedEx. You guys got it pretty #### good over there. When I was in a package car I don't think I have ever seen anyone come from FedEx and last. We have however had a bunch of guys go over to FedEx (express) and love it there.

Does express even come close to the pay of UPS package?

The street hires is what scares me. I know I'll get flammed for this since I'm one of like two UPS drivers on here that went preload/package car/feeder. I feel like the street hire sleeper teams are gonna be pos otr drivers that wouldn't stick it out anywhere else a d when they see the money they will jump but won't be able to hang. Or shower, or shave, or wear a clean uniform lol.

I just got a text back from a guy I know that went to FedEx and he said he took a 30k/yr cut but wishes he had done it years earlier. I put my 20 in and rolled to coca cola only making$28/hr and I've never been happier too.

When I was running teams for YRC I used to see the same UPS team in Hudson Colorado every week at the Loves and they were in uniform, clean shaven, but their flip flops cracked me up. Something not right with all the brown and then flips flops haha.

I want to say Express tops out around $36-$37 from what I recall, but the absolute, biggest, non starter of a turn off is a 10 year progression to get there. Screw that.
