I have not ever gotten a dime for detention, I dont charge for doing nothing, that's not how the world works unless your ### is on welfare.

Anybody that's been in this industry for more than a minute knows that if you push hard for detention you're probably gonna push yourself right out of a contract with a lot of customers. They will end up getting a truck that has 3 drivers, who all coincidentally have the same name, that won't complain about detention and will haul their crap cheaper too.

@Brandt
So you want mileage pay drivers to waste their hours doing nothing and make no paycheck? You are living a pipe dream until the mile pay system is killed. Daily or weekly rate above $1500 for experienced drivers is what needs to happen. Get rid of the push to work stupidly. But once again cdl cdl drivers are not skilled labor maybe fix that first.jamespmack Thanks this. -

I always tell receivers I have 1.5 hours left on my drive time, if it’s not off of the trailer I’m using the parking lot as a bathroom and taking my ten on their dock.
More time you get in this industry the bolder you get.
Most of the time things move along pretty fast, only had to do a 10 once on their docks.
Also I believe to fix this issue is simple.
Stop the 14 when you go off duty for a nap. Simple fix.Intothesunset Thanks this.
