I have not ever gotten a dime for detention, I dont charge for doing nothing, that's not how the world works unless your ### is on welfare.

That's true but the drivers control the log book hours. Drivers can put pressure on the trucking companies by logging all their working time. When the truck is forced to stop at 70 hours. The trucking company has a big problem if the truck did not run enough miles, because it was at loading docks for free. The hours were not free because the are now gone. But driver will probably give in and sit for free then say we need more hours to drive.

Anybody that's been in this industry for more than a minute knows that if you push hard for detention you're probably gonna push yourself right out of a contract with a lot of customers. They will end up getting a truck that has 3 drivers, who all coincidentally have the same name, that won't complain about detention and will haul their crap cheaper too.

The company loves it when you run out your hours on nothing bs. You dont get paid Jack and with a record like that you won't get hired someplace else.

Your giving them you time, that's not free. We can only work 70 hour a week and 14 per day.

So you want mileage pay drivers to waste their hours doing nothing and make no paycheck? You are living a pipe dream until the mile pay system is killed. Daily or weekly rate above $1500 for experienced drivers is what needs to happen. Get rid of the push to work stupidly. But once again cdl cdl drivers are not skilled labor maybe fix that first.

We all want to run miles to get paid but if they are going to waste our time loading and unloading they should pay for it. They don't want pay for it. They want us to sit for free. But they still want the load delivered on time. That doesn't fly anymore because of ELD. We still have driver fighting the system that want to keep working crazy hours like on paper log and keep sitting for free. Because they can make up for the shipper and receive not caring at all about our time.

Why don't you charge them a rate for 14 hours a day or 70 hours a week. If your that good I'm sure they will pay you. Unless they expect you to work for cheap. That's their game they want you to work more hours for less pay.

I always tell receivers I have 1.5 hours left on my drive time, if it’s not off of the trailer I’m using the parking lot as a bathroom and taking my ten on their dock.

More time you get in this industry the bolder you get.

Most of the time things move along pretty fast, only had to do a 10 once on their docks.

Also I believe to fix this issue is simple.

Stop the 14 when you go off duty for a nap. Simple fix.
