Robot trucks are no more threat to trucking jobs than are flying cars.
First you pick an employer THEN you decide how/where to go to CDL school. Under no circumstances consider CR England or buying/leasing a truck.
Which company you pick depends on location, home time frequency & duration, type of trucking. Your perfect solution is individual.
I'm being tempted again...need advice.

Automation is going to become the biggest problem mankind has ever known. It's called the Apocalypse. Look at Elon Musk's warning videos on youtube. Automation and this job. You have bigger things to worry about. Much bigger.
Make sure you go with a company who will train you. Hold your hand, so to speak at first. Get through that first year without any problems. Then... Look for better.NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
If you have good credit cut your own authority on ,go in the whole for 75k and make 225 first year ,or that
FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
Thats true you should avoid swift and prime. Also avoid JB hunt,CR england and most other megas. You could probably get a job with a smaller company doing OTR and get alot better pay than a mega. If you do decide to go with a mega, Schenider is probably the best from what ive heard. I never worked for a mega. I got a job with a great company after I got my cdl and they treated me well.LtlAnonymous Thanks this.

This ^^^^
I don't own a truck, work long week hours, home daily and clear about 92k.
Don't let anyone tell you you can't make money because here are two examples of guys doing it two completely different ways and still doing well for themselves.LtlAnonymous, MYSTYKRACER, GhentSaintPeters and 2 others Thank this. -
I have excellent credit, but I don't think I would consider that without 5-10 years experience in the business first.
My goal is to find a company that is going to support me through the training process and not just dump me completely to fail or succeed. I am perfectly fine with taking less pay to have those things out of the gate.Sirscrapntruckalot, MYSTYKRACER, GhentSaintPeters and 3 others Thank this. -
