So Ive been looking for a w900 for sometime and found a nice one on eBay.(Ill try to post pictures of the truck on here after I write this story). So back at the end of July I find a nice one...
Its a 1999 and has 480k miles on crate motor and rebuilt transmission with papers. I bid on it and being I was on vacation and wasn't watching it I end up loosing the bid, but not by much.

So a day after the auction ends I get a 2nd chance offer. Seller says winning bidding cannot complete the transaction for like 2 weeks and asked did I want to purchase. I was so excited. I, of course, said yes and told him I would wire him the money in 2 days. In the mean time were talking and texting/emailing and he's answering all my questions about the truck. Monday comes I wire 22k in the morning. It was a Bank of America so I felt safe doing so. He had sent me a bill of sale and his home address and everything I needed. So, Tuesday he's hard to get ahold of and doesn't really message back and he's being short.

Im feeling a little nervous at this point and Wednesday comes and he has only replied to 1 of my messages So I come on this website and ask is anyone in the Ann Arbor area because this is where the truck was supposedly parked. @Dale thompson says he is and makes the drive over to the address where the seller/and truck are. I messaged the seller to let him know someone was coming to take pictures. He does respond as says the he is in a meeting and they can't do it right now. So @Dale thompson gets there and of course no truck, its a shopping center.

In short, I called the bank and they couldn't do anything of course. I called Ebay, and I had to file a claim. Thankfully a little known fact to me is that, if I follow all ebays rule of buying(not using avenues like western union etc,) to pay for high priced items then I'm covered up to $100,000. I read that list at least 100 times to make sure. I went ahead and filed the claim and was put in touch with ebays insurance company. I had to fill out a local police report of course, had to file paperwork with the FBI(wire fraud). It was not a fun experience at all.

Thank you again @Dale thompson.... who helped get the process started quickly. And yes I did get my money back within 45 days....I just got it back yesterday

I forgot to add about the seller.

The sellers account was hacked into and someone placed the fictitious auction under his name. Which is why everything seemed to be on the up and up..

Like all the law enforcement I talked with said, he's probably in a foreign country.
Which I still can't understand because I wired the money to a bank of America.

So was 22k the final selling price? If so, that would have been a big red flag right off the bat. Truck in that condition would probly list for atleast 35 to 40k. Glad you didnt lose your money.

You can't beat luck. I have lost a couple of grand on ebay, but it was no scam, and no ones fault but my own. I got the bid and paid, but then was called back to work and never had time to go get the one ton service truck I had paid for. lol
