i think it still goes to the old saying..."if it's too good to be true"....

i'd never (and have never) bought any items from eBay or Craig's List, or any other online sites, from strangers.

this is what dealerships are for. at least you can go and see the vehicle , and they should have all the needed paperwork to be viewed on site.

What's that got to do with anything? A picture is worth a thousand words.....a truck is something you gotta physically check out. OP was lucky

yes ebay and craiglist is full of scammers but sometimes I can see fantastic deals on ebay. I saw on ebay Detroit diesel's 1-box priced for $1500 . First thought its a scam but then decided to buy it . 10 days later Yellow delivered it. Wrote back to seller and asked why it was so cheap priced. He said we are selling lost, unclaimed freight. We needed to clear our warehouse fast for coming items.

Ive been with them about that long if not longer. Most of the time it's good. It has when Paypal got involved became less of a good thing (Too much funds lost to fees etc) but its still ok. I do a sale a year or two. Maybe even bought a couple items here and there. Recently we picked up two old time VCR's for about 140 which was interesting. They stopped making those last year forever anywhere in the world so retail stock is offered for 1500 when a year before that you could get a VCR for 20. *SMH. We had a television sanyo from 9-11 that had a VCR in truck which finally burned up and was good for parts. So it needed to be replaced. That would be the two times the Bay came through nicely.

Yeah there isn't a place like that in the Ann Arbor area or south east Michigan.

You bought something that belongs to someone. And was never delivered for whatever reason.

It's a scam that nets millions every year. Post office, ups, fedex all have their own warehouse where things don't get delivered. And auctioned off.

Our local news did a story on it couple months back. I'll look for those stories and post em after work.

I am just the opposite, I rarely even look at an add if it is a dealer, basically no deals to be had there, in my way of thinking.

That depends on a lot of things, but mainly price. I have bought quite a bit sight unseen, hevc, I have made 10 to 15,000 buck spur of the minute purchases without even a picture, if the price is right.

There is a very good chance that insurance has taken care of the original owner, so basically he probably is not buying someone elses property.

    Everything is someone else's property.
You don't snap your fingers and poof. There it is.
And I believe insurance is an addon.

The person that got the news attention. Was a lady. She spent the entire year last year. Making a blanket for her dad for Christmas. This blanket was made with memories held dear to her father. But he never received it.

    Lost in the mail.

    And nobody was reimbursed.

I don't remember if she had insurance.
