I don't know if I ruined this load or not

    Yoh show up late with a bad attitude & they can make it hard on you. Have all your temp checks noted on bol & they know harder to refuse load.
    Sometimes a person's attitude can have a lot to do with it. Showing up late also. Hard for them to refuse load when u got all your temp checks noted on bol.

    Hauling icecream is not something you want to do, unless you have done it. -20 temp constant and you can't go above 4500ft elevation. I do not recall the exact elevation required. And your reefer better be new to haul icecream. I've never had a rejected reefer load. Only had taken under dispute type issues.
    Reefer is not for the guys that like to sit at truck stops. It's always hussle until you unload, than hussle to get loaded.

    downloaded data from unit will show there was defrost operation or not . defrost takes upto 1.5 hours

    They got temp sensors now that are in the loads and are connected the cellular data and can be accessed online live.
    They can show elevation, temps, and locations.

    Could be a combination of things going on.

    If this was a split temp load on a single zone trailer then that could be part of it. They may have put a bulkhead in keeping the frozen at the front and the fresh stuff in the rear. Seen many times where the chute is pinched and no airflow happens in the rear.

    If the return air was blocked then very little cooling would happen. Often plastic and pallet scraps will clog that if not cleared out. Improper loading can also result in the same issue.

    I'm also in the "it was in defrost" camp. However, if return or supply air was also restricted or the defrost sensors were malfunctioning, it will never finish the cycle and the box will just heat up.

    Given that the temps magically started dropping after some product was removed leads me to believe the air flow was restricted to the point of choking and freezing up the reefer condenser forcing it into defrost cycle hell.

    When I was a company reefer man, I had a load of watermelon rejected by Walmart after showing up a day early, they said the fruit was too ripe.

    Company than sold the load to one of those expensive gourmet juice makers.

    This thread reminded me of something an old bull hauler that ran a fleet of trucks once said. he had bought 5 or 6 reefers to run in the off season. After just a short while they were for sale, and when ask what was up, he said the very worst day hauling cows, was better than the very best day pulling a reefer. lo,

    I can see his point after reading this thread. lol
