If you are really serious about going to Carolina Cargo then you should know a few things first they will give you one good run then send you on three short runs, If your lucky you may get two in a row but if you want to run and get the exp.then they will give you the miles you need to succeed I will tell you who to e-mail but I cant on this site but the lady you were speaking about is the one you want to e-mail her address is on the site, even though she don't work there they will gt answered and hoprfully you will find something else before then but try to go to other websites and put in apps that way I did that and have found a few that are willing to give someone a chance if you want to work hard

same here as far as a just in case company goes.
You can pretty much count on being in a team.
I have the green light to go back there if my boss runs out of work for us to do right now. we tear down buildings and such and we have not won a bid in months. He keeps getting low balled for some reason. I believe he is not adapting to the economic situation at hand.
The important thing with Carolina Cargo is getting a good partner.
Your able to get as much home time as you please but you may have to go out with someone new that you might not be happy with.
At least you know not to go out with that one again.
having a good professional driver is even more important in a team situation because how he or you drive affects the quality of sleep of the other.
if you have any questions about the company just send me a private message

My apologies for this late reply. Been busy looking for work, unemployment ends soon, and no safety net...

A company does not have to be a member of the BBB to have it investigate. Also, OSHA Regulation (Standards - 49) 29.102 and 29.103 outline acceptable and unacceptable business practices. This includes retaliation in the workplace in any form (ie. falsification of DAC reports), including violence, harassment, unsafe work practices (ie. illegal log running for loads), termination without just cause (ie. can't fire simply because a driver refused loads ect.)

Then there is the workplace harrassment laws seperate from OSHA's under the dame federal guidelines for prosecution which are listed as subsections of the Sexual Harrassment Laws.

Lots of stuff can be done, to stop the business's from operating. Logs can cost a business it's liscense to operate, ect.

Google OSHA Regulations for the OSHA.gov website. the FMCSR can be found at fmcsa.dot.gov..

South Carolina just so happens to be a "Right to Hire/ Right to Fire State.

    Right to Hire-

If an employer chooses to promote another employee, regardless of tenure, or experience, they are protected by law.

It is their sole discretion, whom and how they choose to promote, or fill positions.
    (Sucks!!!)

    The Right to Fire:

An employer can for any reason terminate an employee, w/o notice, warrant or explanation.
    (Sucks, again!!)

They can also demote as needed. With the economy being so bad, that is all the explanation a company needs to force a demotion, or reduction of wages.
    (Sucks, big time!!!)

Job security in any field is at risk during these hard times.

Especially, when state laws protect and favor the employer.

This company and its president is under investigation by numerous agencies (state and federal) I would imagine that they will be shut down by October 1, 2009.

In the last 6 months Carolina Cargo installed prepass on their trucks.
They have leased a new fleet of modern reefer trailers with air lock tandem slides to make life easier on the drivers. And now they are installing paperless logs in their trucks. Almost all their trucks are autoshift Columbias
I am told by management that they will be getting some new trucks at the first of the year. I know drivers who have been with them for over 2 years and some drivers have been there for 5 years. They are a second chance company that gives men and women who want to become drivers their first driving job.
as for the 10 cents a mile, no one makes just ten cents a mile.
If you are just out of school with 0 experience, yes you will start at 10 cents but with the ontime bonus you will get another penny, you will run team out west and your trips can sometimes be as little as 4500 miles or as much as 7500 miles per pay period.
trainers get 500 dollars after taking a trainee out on three trips and they get 20 dollars for all stops. drivers get 500 dollars for completing 100 thousand accident free miles. drivers can get as much time off as they desire.( try to get that from anyone else) These are not opinions but facts.
