After CA gets rid of all the instate registered trucks that can't pass the "smog test", then they can think about how to win a case in Federal court telling a truck owner out of state whether his/her truck must meet CA law.

One more post proving the IQ level envisioned for truckers is well reserved. The straw thing, why would you want to add more plastic to the enviroment, straw can and have been bad of degradable materials for years, Same true about trucks that do not meet air quality standards.

Simple answer, stay away those of us that live here won't miss you drivers that stay out, not a problem. California is one of the few states that really does not need the rest of the US to survive. So don't want to come here tell your boss maybe he will care more than we do. I have no problem not shipping imports or food to the rest of the country, more for us.

So they don’t need a market for their produce? They don’t need a market for their cattle? They don’t need a market for what is manufactured in the state? They can survive without the ports because they don’t need to transfer containers to be shipped everywhere in the country? May want to think about it a little more before you claim the state can survive without the rest of us.

I would be happy to see a scientific experiment isolating CA (excluding the FREE state of Jefferson) from the rest of the country. That's science I can support.

As far as I’m concerned, as long as they give up congressional representation they’re more than welcome to try.

Have plenty of markets for the food products, as far as the containers, we just charge a nice high price to take it to the border of the state.

Taking containers to the border would lead me to think that you’d still be relying on the rest of us for commerce. And that goes against the post I quoted which said CA doesn’t need the rest of us for anything. So the ports would have to lay off most workers, if not shut down completely, unless CA consumed enough to warrant keeping them open.

The dairy industry gets hay from OR, NV, and AZ so those imports would be gone. Although with a smaller market for milk since it would all stay in the state the shrinking dairy industry would need less hay.

The cattle industry, south of Fresno especially, would no longer be able to send calves to OR to put weight on before sending them to the Midwest to be fed and finished. There would be no more calves coming from Hawaii to be transferred to trucks to come to the Midwest. No quality bulls from other parts of the country could be brought in to improve herd genetics.

Without the other 49 states there would be a drastic cut into the produce market. CA and Canada probably couldn’t consume enough to sustain the produce industry at current levels.

When 43% of this country’s homeless population is in one state I doubt that state can afford to shrink their economy to the levels it would go to if they cut themselves off. The major cities already resemble third world countries in some parts and trying to survive without the “rest of us” would only cause that problem to spread. So yes, some of us find it funny when a big deal is made about banning plastic straws while at the same time disease and filth are running wild in giant homeless camps that they can’t seem to find a solution for.

I could careless what people outside of California think. If you add up all the opinons outside of Cali, they don't matter to one iota to me, could careless. If you don't like Cali stay away and we'll both be a lot happier.
And by the way California has the largest economy of all the states.

States ship stuff to CA, CA ships to the rest of us. All I was pointing out was how ignorant it is to say that the state could survive merely on their own economy.

California does not generate near enough electricity to be self sufficient. Without power coming in from out of state things would get pretty dim there.
