With regards to this tread - I am not a driver, I am a wannabe and hopefully a soon-to-be. What I can say is every question I have asked here was answered by at least two people if not more. I also enjoy hearing/reading about the trials and accomplishments of the people here.

And Jess, I get a kick out of your Henness!

Brickman - I thought you all ways did things your way - lol - that is the impression I get from reading your post.

Anyway all, please don't change a thing, cause I really like all 300+ pages and will probably ask the same question a few more times cause I am thick that way. If I get to thick, just grab a 2x4 and slap me upside the head.

Still here and still going strong. Been out driving in the mornings and in the backing range in the afternoons. Then back to the Ramada for a dip in the pool and a half way decent bed and cable tv. Been doing good at pretty much everything. One of my trainers asked where i had driven before. I found that amusing. And on the backing range i'm yet to knock down any cones. Nudged one or two but they didn't go down. So on to pre-trip inspection testing tomorrow and more training and testing the rest of the week. Then get me outta here and with a trainer on the road. Gotta run and like I said, anyone around that want's to say hey, I'm a bigg guy with a goat tee and a hat with a P on it for Pepperdine University. i have that Central hat I got but the Pepperdine hat might be good luck so I keep wearing it.

I can see that I'm gonna cop the mother hen name Lol, Think that's cause I'm an Aussie and grew up in the trucking industry (Family has a few highway trucks and Log trucks) I am used to being around drivers and making sure they get a coffee and a snack if they called into the house.

Sounds like you are breezing through training!!:yes2557:
Have you met any of this weeks students yet????

Good luck with your pre-trip inspection test!

True, I do most of the time. However I have to play by the rules set by the site admins, so my hands are tied on here.

well i can honestly say this thread has been very informative, not to mention entertaining. loved the post about 1bad and others throwing there loads out in the dirt. LOL.

spent last couple of weeks reading this story. thanks to the economy, have had lots of spare time on my hands lately.

am interested in hearing how 1bad makes out on the lease. have always been interested in doing that myself. but guess that leaves me out in the dust since i'm already a pro. ROOTING FOR 1BAD. make it work man.

here's a suggestion, since you all have some high powered inverters in your trucks. how about trying a window mount A/C. or even a swamp cooler. don't know how that would effect the battery drain when your not running, but i'm sure them trucks have lots of amps to play with. and you all would know better then me what your solutions are should you end up with dead batteries by chance. or a way of avoiding dead batteries. would seriously cut down your idle time. they are small, fairly cheap. and can be found at any sears, lowes, or whatever yall have out on the highway. it's what i used when i was OTR. but the longest i ever used it was 10 hours straight. sitting in PHX. batteries barely made a drop in voltage though. truck still fired right up. that was 8 years ago, i have no idea what technology is out there now for you guys.

anyways, caught up in the story. now i can join yall.

i've seen some people have pc problems. that's my side hobby. so don't be afraid to ask. too bad the problems didn't wait 3 months. new operating system coming out. glad your old printer works with vista, jess. sales men need commission too. manufacture shuold have software out by now, vista been out long enough. so your printer should have worked anyways.

    by day i'm a trucker, by night i'm a techno geek. :biggrin_255:
in my previous life i was a auto technician. keyword being RETIRED. so don't even ask me to get my hands dirty again. it's been 10 years and i'm just now getting the last dirt out of my nails.

as for drinking coffee with jj. i'm a pepsi man myself. tried 20 spoons of sugar once, never tried again. but if you ever decide you have time to kill and want to get away from the terminal for a couple of hours. i'll be more then happy to take you and student to a restaurant for a real meal. i know how truck stops suck. and although i'm sure jess packs some mean meals and enough groceries for you, even i like something different every now and then.

i'm a dirt hauler. so i'll be somewhere around the valley. but that might change in the not too distant future.

OK, i've made my introduction. how uuuuuuuuuuuuu doing??

i'm snowwy by the way. :biggrin_25525:

I wish you would have been around a few months ago when I had to buy a new desktop!! But I did manage to sell the new 4 in1 on ebay so it wasn't to bad!

I think Larry will be JJ's last student as I am pretty sure the people who looked at the house will buy it and I will be back in the truck :hello1:

JJ is gonna have to learn to like Lady GAGA:biggrin_25511:

    Mother Henness over and out!

Well, I will first address River Runner... I can almost bet that you arrived at this site already frustrated with tons of questions feeling there were no answers to be found. Then you get to this site thinking all your answers would be here easily retrieved, but what you find are people chatting away about things you aren't a part of, and you felt even more frustrated. What you failed to see is that these people come to this site to connect with other drivers and the significant others of other drivers. When THEY come to this site, the read what newly posted and address it... be it a comment, a question, a concern, or even a hello. This site doesn't come equipped with a crytal ball which would anticipate questions that someone might have. However, as you noticed, River Runner, your posts have all been addressed...had you asked a question, it too would have been answered. This isn't a static site. It isn't meant to be a "most frequently asked questions about Central" so that you can scroll down to find the question to which you want an answer. It is a forum, meaning that it's organic ... it's people communicating with each other, and that is how you would have found your answers by communicating. So, have patience and respect. These are not just drivers, but people, some who go out of their way to help a fellow driver in need, but you have to approach them with the respect they deserve, the same you would want in return. Ask a question, and I bet you will get answers.

Now to address the answers I got concerning my questions... Thank you again. I will let my partner know that maybe it is time to change FM's. My partner is loyal to a fault, and wants to believe in his FM. My next question is, how does he go about getting a different one (oh, and I would pray that he doesn't get a worse one). His FM is Martin. Just to give you another example. He was given a load for I think 600 miles (Stockton to somewhere in Utah). He picked up Monday at 5:30 PM, and it doesn't deliver until tomorrow (Wednesday 7 PM). He got there today, Tues, so he's to sit 24 hours now. This is one of the least waits. When I was with him, he had to wait an entire weekend once in Atlanta, and almost 4 days another time. Each time his FM said, that there just wasn't anything he could give him, no drop authorization, unless he was willing to dead head 600 miles.

    jjranch Thanks this.

I don't know if she is taking on anymore trucks right now, but tell him to try to get Lisa in Fontana. I have her & she runs me pretty good, but sometimes you will just get into an area thats dead. She is big on communication, if you give her an early eta to where ever it is you are going she will try to get your appt. changed to get you in earlier if she can. I'm very happy with her & I know a lot of other drivers are as well.
