That info was posted at the other forum but when I went to review it I noticed the entire thread had been deleted. Supposedly at the request of the original poster.

I recall the statement but have not heard anything further about it. As I recall the statement was for NEMF office workers. Something about management asking all office workers to take 4 days off (unpaid) during the next 2 months. 2 days in July, 2 days in August. I believe the poster then speculated that it sounded like the company wanted the office workers to simply give back 4 days vacation and work those days after all.

If they are getting behind then it really makes no sense to furlough workers. It does make sense to ask for a "give back" if the company has indeed fallen on hard times financially.

I believe this is what YRC is currently attempting to do through its renegotiations with the teamsters.

Mike wants his share of the pie also like everyone else. I heard asking 5 %. Management hasnt gotten raises in 2 years. Now Eastern management has to sit by a computer constantly to accept Wal-mart deliveries. No more easy days.

Looks like Kim and I get the next 4 days off! Apparently all NEMF terminals were closed today (Friday). This means no load for us down to Miami nor a return trip even if we had a load to go down.

Should be back Tuesday morning to start our normal run.

Oh well, will try to make the best of it and get some things done at home.

jlkklj is not management. He just has some respect for a company that pays his bills right now. They are far from the best but there are worse out there.

how can anyone show respect to a place that has no respect for the people that are putting the money in their pockets . Fright God do you feel that Eastern respects you ?
The right thing to do if they are hurting that bad "AND YES THEY ARE HURTING ", would be to let the drivers know whats going on and management share the hit money wise but noooo thats to much like being a good employer .

Had the same truck for the past 3 years or so. Got almost 500,000 miles on it now. As far as seniority I have been there since June 4th 2001. I think there is maybe 4 or 5 drivers with more seniority than I have.

PS. Why do these guys think I am in management? I figured I posted enough info and pics to prove my identity beyond any doubt.

Perhaps I am old fashioned. I believe a mans word is his bond. To that end I strive to offer wisdom and advice based on my experiences and perceptions. Focusing on facts and attempting to keep a positive outlook on life.

I give all I can to my employer because my employer has treated me well over the years AND paid me well for my time.

    Some examples of what Eastern has done for me;

Gave me a job where I could make 1300 to 1400 per week and take home a thousand dollars as a solo driver AND still get me home through the house for a day (old HOS rules).

Gave me paid Medical and Dental Family coverage for the first 3 or 4 years that has kept me out of the poor house. My wife has had multiple surgeries in the past 7 years costing literally hundreds of thousands of dollars to save her life and improve her health.

Each time my spouse has gone into the hospital Eastern management has sent me home regardless of the load I was under. They went out of their way to keep me doing local work when I explained to them I needed to still make money but had to be home daily while Kim was in the hospital and then while she was recovering at home.

In short, each time I have had a health issue whether it be my own or immediate family Eastern Management has backed me 100%.

They have earned my loyalty, my trust, and my respect.

I know about your personnal issues that you describe. And no matter how bad a company Eastern is perceived, you know how they did the right thing by you and that is whats important, not some outsider critisizing your opinions.
