Hands down, International wins in this comparison.

International is the supplier of a huge percentage of the US Military's new trucks and as such have been put through some tests that would shock people who havent seen the US Army proving ground at Aberdeen MD. Not to say that a PACCAR or Shaker couldn't handle it but why take the chance when you already have a proven product.

Also in the International's favor... Replacement part cost across the board is much cheaper than PACCAR products. You can replace 3 or 4 IH hoods for what it cost for just one comparable Pete hood.

Get Internationals with military spec frames and running gear and you're in business for the long haul. As a bonus in a few years the US Goverment will be selling all those trucks they ship to Iraq and Europe so spare parts will be even cheaper and closer.

Correction... Mack has "a" contract for military dump trucks...... :biggrin_25525:

International has the largest contract for supplying replacements for the retiring Military fleet of all types

I like the feedback. I was actually looking at the International trucks, because of the cost.

The Pete and Kenworth look good as well, but I have to think about the money involved.

    Thanks again.

How much would it cost you to ship a truck bought in the U.S. to Africa?

You might not have to. South Africa has a lot of trucks already. You might find some for sale there.

Shipping cost will probably be right around $5000 per truck.

Shipping between African countries can sometime be more expensive than shipping from Europe or the U.S.

I will ship them from the East Coast.

BY ALL MEANS if it's a dusty situation make sure the air filters are mounted outside the cab, NOT UNDER THE HOOD!!!!! There's a whole lot more fresh air outside, than stuffed up under the hoods. If not your filter replacement costs will be horrendous !! Good Luck!
