Training in Trenton will be cool. Bill was the instructor when I was there which was about 3 years ago now. Training was pretty cool. Bill is very knowledgeable and patient. First few days are paper work and going over classroom instruction like logs and shifting techniques. Then you get to have fun out on the range with the trucks. I decided to take a 4 day weekend at the end before going with my trainer and there was no delay, trainer was there that Monday. I had a really positive experience with Millis. Good luck guys and be safe!
Going to MTI on 7/27/09

Go out with a trainer as soon as possible as soon as you get done with orientation. Do not go home or you might get stuck there for a month.
-
Can any of you millis drivers out there tell me if millis has started installing apu's on there trucks yet?
-
they have 30 trucks that have them but they are mainly for the trainers. they do have bunk heaters for the winter. they dont say much about idle time as long as you stay below 40 percent which is not to hard to do.
MR EXPRESS and jdsgungho Thank this. -
Spanky you are a wealth of information, I truly appreciate all the reply's that you have given regarding your experiences with Millis.
It has been quite interesting reading everyones adventures, I hope to hear more as it seems some classes are scheduled to begin.
I have been accepted to the program and have to call in July 15th to schedule for the Aug 24th class.
Keep all the great post's coming, any tips, tricks, or invaluable insights that would make for being a better prepared driver would also be cool.
I'm very much looking forward to working for Millis and giving thenm my absolute 110%!
Good luck to all
Also in regards to your post, what is the bonus if you are under 40,30,20% on idle? TIA -
if you are under 10% you get .04 cent extra for the miles you run that month if you are at 20 % you get .03, 30% you get .02, 40% you get .01
jdsgungho and MR EXPRESS Thank this. -
So if you were hardcore and decided you could live just as comfortably with the truck turned off, you could earn an extra 3-400 dollars a month?
Realisticallly, I'm thinking 10% might be tough, but that 20% could certainly be achievable.
If you have an APU in your truck is the idle bonus still effective? Or is it calculated at a different rate?
I also see where there is pay for unloading your truck, and was wondering that even though they say its usually no-touch, is there more opportunities than not to make some money by unloading?
The way I look at it, is if the company wants to give me money to do certain things that are above and beyond and I can do it, I'm taking the money.
I can then take a portion of that extra money and invest it in the company 401 where they will match it. Do you know the match rate per contributed dollar?
What other ways are there to put more cash in your pocket at Millis and make them work for you just as hard as you work for them?
Thanks again spanky, or whomever else would like to answer.Last edited: Jul 11, 2009

bpowell33,
Tell your dad we will be glad to meet him and go through school with him.
Has he already gotten his dot physical card and cdl permit?
Is he going to pay for his motel out of pocket or letting millis pay for it with
payroll deductions.
The reason I am asking is I haven't decided yet because I only live a couple
hours from school and mayn't stay every night?
Anyway tell him mark will be looking for him.Could I ask what his name is?
