Hey y'all,
What are the requirements for driving non-CDL with just a flatbed truck without a trailer? I know that I need a CDL if I ever plan to pull over 26,000 pounds (and yes, with a flatbed trailer) but my partner and I are thinking about starting with just a flatbed truck and building up cash to buy a better truck and trailer and then I plan on getting a CDL to do bigger loads or even invest in a semi and trailer. Also, I have heard about the 65' rule in Texas (I saw someone comment about this in another thread) and I was curious if anyone had some information or documentation I could review for verification?

why aren't you getting your CDL first??
24kHotshot and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -

Because right now, I do not have a need for it. I want to build up experience first and, plus, I do not have the best schedule to do CDL training right now either.RicoNC Thanks this.

Do I need to get my CDL prior to starting this?

I completely understand...HOWEVER it's always better to have it and dont need it than need it and dont have it...just my 2 cents... try to get some info about some community college around your area...some of them they may have full time as well as part time...npok and 24kHotshot Thank this.
