i don't think anyone actually stays a "lifelong" with any company, although, i could be wrong.
you could do better than Werner, but if its with-in your power to stay a while and learn a few things, then go for it. you can always seek employment else where when you gain sufficent experience. try to get through the winter months with just one carrier. that'll be better than switching jobs mid-season. -
well i have a little over 2 years exp and they said they would start me at .26 a mile with a fuel surcharge of up to 4 cents per mile plus per diem they want me to stay out for two weeks at a time and i mean now i drive regional they also claimed that i would take home about 800 a week which is pretty appealing considering i make around 950 now i mean what do i do right?
-
to get the fuel surcharge, are you an owner/operator........??
otherwise, an employee/driver doesn't get that. -
o man and that was the deciding factor lol
-
.26 a mile sound horrible......if you have 2 years you should be making .35 per mile.

If you have 2 yrs experience ck.out Roehl Transport.Home time is good, and they have some very obtainable bonuses.

I posted a question on the DAC for Werner. I am considering one of their schools and their company. I only found two negatives out of what would be about twenty thousand drivers over the last twenty years. Any more info would be helpful. I know if they are really bad you all would sound off like you did with CRST. Let us know!

Ok! I woke up and used the search button. I found a few more negatives but I have to say that only one really seemed to hold much value for me. I am pretty crusty so the requirements to run legal, safe, and on time don't bother me. The guy that went for days without grabbing a shower just didn't make a lot of sense to me.
Safety issues would bother me, and stuck in the middle of nowhere with nowhere to go could get old after a week. I think the electronic log needed woke up!
I still need somebody driving with Werner to give me some idea of how it is working for you and the guys you know. Like I said it looks like they probably had at least twenty thousand drivers over the last twenty years? -
hey mrbill,
i've been driving with werner's dollar general account for two weeks and everything has been good for me so far. i trained for a total of about 6 weeks to get to my 275 required hours and then was assigned an 06 freightliner classic. i had two good trainers and spent plenty of time behind the wheel. depending on what you are looking for werner might have what you are looking for as far as driving preferences, they have several divisions to offer. well if you have any questions you want to ask me then feel free and i'll do my best to answer them.
