Most companies, and none I know of do not pay for idle air. They feel that is a convience to you and they shouldnt have to pay. But at the same time they dont provide an APU and dont want you idling

How do you pull the "anti-idle" fuse?

Look in the fuse panel for the system that shuts the truck off and pull it out. Ours is the icon system. No fuse means no system. I pulled mine for awhile b/c my system wasn't working properly. Fuel economy loved that one, 170 idle hours over 2 weeks, i/t 70%.

    HIROCUbabe,

This is a commedable project but doomed to fail. No matter how many signatures you get the result will be that very few of them will be able to vote for any given public official. Every driver, spouse of a driver, friend of a driver and relative of a driver combined make up a tiny voting block. When these high minded statesmen do the high minded statesman thing, all that matters is votes and publicity. To them drivers don't matter. All that stuff just "appears on the wally world shelf by magic.

A strike would work if it could be done, but how many truckers can afford to strike, and the trucking companies sure as h#*l ain't going to suppot a loss of business.

After following up on some articles about FMCSA i got an idea that might help. The government is always trying to tighten the medical noose around our necks to support "safety." I checked thier web sight and found that the evidence they base these rulles on is not only flakey, id apperently NEVER looks at actual resons for truck crashes. There fore I suggest that effots to get the government to fight for us should be to convince the FMCSA that the BEST change they could make would be to stop staes and local goverments from preventing us from getting needed rest and while they are at it, Stop companis from some fof thier abusive tactics. This would be a real safety improvement.

I had one driver say the best way to handle is is to grab the CEOs and stick them in a big truck in the middle of the texas desert lol. But I am working on it, letters are already drafted and sent and I have an appointment in a few weeks with a congressman =)

    The Challenger Thanks this.

Just a update, I have began the campaign on this matter with several Senators. For many reasons, I decided to start with those in TX.

I am asking for assistance in naming this little project, I am drawing a blank on that right now which is not normal lol.

The Challenger and phroziac Thank this.

Had a laptop and nice set of headphones stolen there by that gay black guy with no teeth. Windows were closed but he fixed that on his own!

It pisses me off soo much how they'll do things like...
In california, its illegal to park at a rest area for longer than 8 hours. What if you need a place to get a 10 hr break in?

I'm in Michigan near the junction of I-196, I-94, Napier Ave, and US-31 bypass (hell of a junction, you have to jog 1 mile down napier ave to get to 31 because they couldnt finish building the junction because of butterflies.). Anyway, theres a concrete pad with ramps, thats blocked off. It was going to be a weigh station but it was never built. Not really enough traffic on that road to warrant a weigh station, to be honest. But they do this kind of thing all the time. Why not make it a truck parking area? Just open it up and put up a sign, "Truck parking". Maybe put up a bathroom and some overpriced vending machines and paint some lines on the ground. Doesnt cost much.

When I'm OTR, it pisses me off soo much when i see that kind of thing. But no, they'd rather give people tickets for parking on ramps. Oh, and how about when they put up so many no parking signs on a ramp that its impossible to even pull over?

Not a bad concept to tackle...

    But there are several problems.

    1. Trucking companies will lobby against it due to added fuel costs.

    2. Environmental groups will lobby against it due to carbon emissions (and the US President seems to be more than willing to bankrupt the entire country with Cap and Tax).

    3. Assuming you can partially overcome the 1st two, getting a consensus on what "exteme" temperatures mean from a legislative stand point.

I wish you luck in your endeavor. I wouldn't look for much help from the trucking Unions either.

Unfortunately the no-idle deal has little to do with clean air and a lot to do with local communities generating revenue by levying fines.
