Not to be rude, but since you were and I resent it ... this comment is not only uncalled for, it's untrue. Apparently you feel you know a lot about finding a truck driving job. If that's the case, you should also know that some driving companies are notorious for lying through their teeth and promising them the moon when hiring drivers. On top of that, some of this stuff didn't start happening until after he was there awhile and there was a bit of some company shuffle that occurred. So, until you know more of or all the facts, it's considered polite and to your advantage to not make condescending comments such as yours. It also makes you look like less of a walking superiority complex with an out of control mouth.

Sorry, but I'm still standing behind my comment! Yes, I was a new driver once, but I spent about 3 months researching and learning all I could about driving a truck for a living. I when into the job knowing the down sides, what is going to be really expected of me.

Yes, I know some companies are are notorious for lying through their teeth and promising the the moon when hiring drivers. They are ( both the companies and new drivers) are the problem with the current OTR system. I happened to do I lot of research before I changed to a driving career. I went into the job with my eyes open, I was never blindsided by my starting company.

My first job was with Millis, they were a great company. I have nothing bad to say about them, if I had to go OTR they be first on my list. Did they talk safety and log legal all the time, yes. Did they ever force me to color in my book, no, I did so by my choice. Did the company profit from me fudging the books, yes, I also profited. Was a given better loads and more miles because of it, yes. But, for the most part nothing that I did or anything the happened to me was a surprised.

As for the company messing with your pay, it's time to move. If your husband has been driver for a year or more and has good clean MVR, he should be able to find a new company.

Today I driver for a company that gets me home every night, have 90% weekends off. I get to log legal 100% of the time, and get paid by the hour. I'm making about 1.5 times what I made OTR. The downside is that I'm still working 40 to 70 hours a week (most 5 days weeks). For the most part during the week all I do is sleep in my own bed.
