Good Job Hunter!! I got approved last week - they told me I could not go to class until I was approved - but all was ok -

Biggja - congrats!! I drove a truck for the 1st time today - the clutch does not engage until the peddle is very close to fully out - something must be wrong or trucks and car clutches are not the same. But all is good, after I got clutch engage placement memorized.

A preventable every day - wow - not good news for us noobs.

May Trucking recruiter came in to class today - lots of fun stuff. What I liked is that we as drivers are managers of our trucks, but as managers we still have to call in for idle time if we want it - and if we are in 85 degree weather, we get A/C - recruiter has a different story than what is on most sites - imagine that.

Anyone here have any info on May Trucking? I trust you guys better then some of the threads here.

Finished 1st week of classes with a 98.8% test average - not too bad I guess, could be better. Those stupid videos that they show - I have heard better music on porno flicks. Really boring stuff.

    The Challenger Thanks this.

in the bottom left of google you have a section called layers. put a check mark in any box you want to see and leave blank boxes for things you don't want. any box in blue has a category of things listed for that one heading. double click on blue box heading and you get the list of things under that.

these are the things i have checked.

    roads
when you zoom in you get names of the streets. and highway numbers.

    3d buildings.
zoom into lower manahattan, battery park, new york city. you'll see 3 d buildings as an example.

    borders and lables.
outline of the countries, states, and counties

    traffic
zoom into city, green for go, yellow for slowing down. red for slow and black for traffic being screwed and not moving. not on the ball 100 percent of the time though. microsoft seems to work better. but that involes navigating on the internet

    weather
self explanatory there. cloud cover. green for rain. pink for rain/snow. white for snow. grey for serious snow. weather is updated every 5 minutes so you can actually see a storm as it moves. temperature is also shown.

i have a mouse with a scroller wheel on pc. moving wheel back and forth zooms in and out. on laptop you have to point mouse to where you want. double click for zoom in. one click to stop zooming. left click zooms in, right click zooms out. my laptop mouse actually works as a clicker also. just tap on the mouse pad like your using the clicker. all laptops have that feature, depending on wether it's turned on or not. don't know about you. but most people don't know that. they always use the clickers.

when using weather. the zoom will be somewhat sluggish as the internet is pulling down the scenery as well as the weather.

everything else you can play with to see what you like.

move your mouse over to the top right corner of the screen some additional functions will light up. play with those to see what they do.

google is mapping software more or less. it's not real live imagery. goverment don't allow live images. spy reasons and all. the imager is all compiled as of roughly couple of years ago. i'm sure some trucker is going to be deliverying to an address that wasn't there at the time the images were composed so don't expect to see any streets that have been developed recently. and don't expect to actually see yourself on the street. LOL. where i live, there is nothing but field. this neighborhood wasn't developed at the time. there are no streets. but there are imaginery lines with street names. the google version i use on my blackberry does show my neighborhood though. i can zoom down to 200 feet of my roof.

Ok, a little over 2 weeks under my belt with the trainer. He's a good trainer and we have been all over the place. I am on my 10 hour break right now and have a load going to Ohio in the morning. It's alot different being on the road than in the classroom or practicing in the yard. I just dropped a load at the yard in Salt Lake and it was a heavy one. 79,600 gross pounds of some kind of protein powder in bags. It was not fun going up and down the mountains in Wyoming and Utah with that much weight.
Anyways, I hope all is well with JJ and everyone else here and I will check back in when I get home again.

    1) If you have been doing this for 15 years why did you have to go to training?

It never fails, within the day of washing the truck it will rain or you will get into some mud... Every #### time.

Why does everybody show up after I'm gone?
