If an overpass is listed at a certain height, is there a few inches of headway?

If you were that close to the bridge , you could have measured it first before attempting to go under it .
-
I didn't think of that at the time because I was stressed out from the situation. But now that I think about it, it wouldn't have worked because the width of the horizontal pole was more than the clearance I passed with so it would have showed that I couldn't have passed. I had to deflate the the front tires of the car I was hauling to pass within a quarter inch of the bridge.

Hey how's the 9 car treating you??

It’s a learning experience for sure. We have been been hauling 5-7 for now. Doing 8 tomorrow for the first time and we have been staying away from f150s (there are soooo many listed on the board). What are you running?Doealex Thanks this.

Normally a couple inches leeway...Unless they repaved road.Just Dont hit any bumps and bounce in the air!Last resort ...you let some air out of all tires.Seriously heard of an ole boy near Davenport Iowa doing such a thing.

True story. Learned about the letting some air out of your tires as a young kid reading the detective book called Encyclopedia Brown . I was pretty impressed and thought ," man he is one smart Mo Fo !! "

This time of year coming up you would do well to remember a snowpack on the road will reduce clearance. Plus if you have built up snow on your roof (dry van) you could cause the traffic in back of you to experience a sudden avalanche!
DrDieselUSA and Atlanticus trucking Thank this. -
That is a great idea, but it is an even better idea to measure your rig after you finish loading and before you pull out on to the road......Ziggy319, bryan21384 and 24kHotshot Thank this.
