to everyone lurking and reading this thread, please don't listen to bitter posters like this guy. This is 2019. There are plenty of companies where you, as a newly graduated CDL holder, can have some of the amenities quoted above, so that you can live more comfortably.
And that should be celebrated, not looked down upon. it's called progress,
ask around here, and Reddit, Facebook groups, ext. ext. please don't think you have to live in the truck like it's the 1970's, you don't, we've come a long way since then despite what some on this forum and others might say.mladen86, SoCalRed and EuropeanTrucker Thank this. -

Its a give and take i guess. The old timers didnt have amenities in their younger years but get them now in their older years via SS, medicaid etc.
The current young crowd is pretty spoiled with comforts and technology now, but its a pretty bleak looking care package coming to them when they hit 80yrs old, at the rate things are going.Gearjammin' Penguin, TexasKGB and Fold_Moiler Thank this. -
I’ve been getting calls from owner ops lately looking to make a change. Their companies aren’t keeping them busy. Several have been with the same company for years.
Drivers are calling more as well. I can definitely tell people are downsizing or going broke or this all wouldn’t be happening.
Just a year ago getting any calls from either was like hitting the lottery. Rarely happens! -

Sales levels are expected to return to normal according to the article, nothing anybody could not have expected or predicted.
some folks blame it on the trade war, and no doubt it has the concern of businesses.
The sad part, good or bad, the trade deals would probably have been done deals if the government would just do their job.
Nothing against unions, but they just may have picked a bad time to strike.Tx Countryboy and bzinger Thank this.
