Let me try this again. NuCar, love the picture of your old rig! When my father ran the Leaseway Terminal in Newark, DE, I watched lots of trailers cut up for scrap and tractors sold for pennies on the dollar.

    NuCar Carrier Thanks this.

Tractor only is what im referring to..

Chrome and lights dont make you any more $...If you buy good used equiment and refurbish as needed you dont have the $2500 + a month before you turn a mile..On a less expensive deal you can still make same amount because you have less oberhead rite off the bat..
None of that emissions crap depending on yr of purchase, chances are fuel mpg/costs are better..I could go on but your gonna down play no matter what i saw..

Doesnt matter if its a car hauler, dry box, flat bed, reefer,b train heavy haul or drop deck..Same principles..

If you expect others to take your advice, you should have done successfully what you are speaking of for a reasonable period of time in that particular segment of the trucking industry. Explain why every car hauling fleet in the country spends $300,000 on a new rig if $20,000 will buy one that does the same job. The exception to this would be Cassens Transport who refurbs some of their old worn out Internationals and puts new head racks and trailers with them. They were junk when they were brand new and they are junk when they come out of refurb. I am not interested in running junk, don’t need to financially to succeed.

Also one very important reason to me is that it is my choice. If I want new equipment to drive and I am willing to pay for it someone else has no input. I also don’t plan to trade it until I am done with it. I started with new, keep it clean and well maintained and over the life of it the total cost of ownership will be very negligible from that of an old worn out tractor that I could have refurbished. I am talking a period of ten years or better. Some of the more successful companies trade every few years. That doesn’t interest me, but I don’t have a say in how others operate. It is a big world and not a one size fits all approach.
