That's it? No gory horror stories? No specific details? No "this is what happened to me" diatribes? No disclosures about the accident that killed a busload of orphans?
Frankly sir ( or madam, as it may be) I am truly disappointed. I came here with a fresh bag of pop corn, and a new 2 liter bottle of Mello Yello, expecting to be entertained. And all I get is "PTL run away, don't walk". I feel my day now has been ruined, I might as well go back and hide under the covers. Or maybe cut the grass....

I’ll thought about the injustice that I suffered but I just couldn’t bring myself to tell that story again so I guess she’ll have to take my word for it !! Or not!!!
-
-First off, do not buy into the what they say about what they will pay you when you get there. You're going to come to orientation and it will change before you can smell the oil under your truck. I was supposed to get .36 cpm, but due to the fact that a lot of my jobs didn't answer the phone when they were verifying, I got .32 cpm. This is before the mandatory 0.03 cpm per diem that can be cancelled after 90 days with the company. The rumor is that you must accept the pay as if you refuse, you're marked as abandoning the load as they assigned a load to you when you are told your pay. I cannot verify this.
- We are an all 48 state company and we do offer Canada. We are forced dispatch and you are told that in orientation.
- They would like it if you have Hazmat before you come. If you don't and want to obtain it, they'll help you pay for it. The same goes for your physical. If you come up for one, they will route you to the nearest medical center, they will pay. If you do it on your own and show a receipt, the will reimburse you the cost.
-They do offer insurance, but I will say that it is up to you to decide. The deductions are taken out weekly like everything else. I believe mine is $65 a month just for me.
-The breakdown department is slow and at times frustrating. they have an approval process that can take forever and you may find yourself sitting in a hotel or the yard if you're lucky. You still get breakdown pay either way.
-Your first truck may not be the best. I picked up my first three truck in different locations and got my newest ones on the yard. If the truck you receive is filthy, take before and after pictures. They pay you to detail the truck.
-You will be Greyhounded to orientation as well. I had to catch the bus from Corpus Christi to Texarkana in 2017. This is no cost to you even if you don't make the cut and are sent home.
-They do feed you three times a day for the three days of orientation. That is breakfast at the hotel and lunch and dinner on the terminal. If you don't want the food there, the hotel has food establishments in walking distance.
-As far as I am aware, they don't do hair follicle tests. It's urinary. I haven't heard anything new.
- We only have forward facing cameras and the trucks we have are equipped with Collision Mitigation Systems. Watch this because...
-Safety are jerks at times. I've had run-ins with them over this CMS crap on my truck. They are also articulate over your logs too. You have a Safety Review every quarter and you don't have to be at the yard for it. Also, if you need documents such as insurance and permits, they can and will get those to you right away.
- You will not be reimbursed if you buy out of pocket. You have to request an advance for your truck repairs and for goodness sake turn in your receipts.
-Trucks are governed at 65 for your first year with the option of 68 after two years. 72 if you lease. We are converting to automatic transmissions. Kenworth, Peterbilt and Freightliner.
-You will be given a driving test when you arrive to orientation. Depending on your history, you may go with a trainer.
- Truck washes are every 30 days. They recently got to where they won't do the outside of the trailer. You cannot get a wash under a load and you need to call breakdown for a code to get a trailer washout. I suggest getting a blower or push broom and only visiting a truck wash when it is required.
- Get on a dedicated or regional fleet. OTR is not where it's at.
Is it always sun and fun? No. I've been here two years now and I like it. I've seen many of them come and go as well. Like I said, you've probably already made your decision, but I just thought I'd add to everyone else's thoughts. I could care less about a recruitment bonus as I make all that I need without having to prey on perspective new drivers. Plus, I don't need someone else trying to kill me if they get here and hate it.
Oink, Oink.

Need4Speed and Lonesome Thank this. -
This is what a review of a carrier should look like. I have thought about going with SRT after I finish training (should I get an offer from them), but I was a bit put off with all of the negative comments. With that review, I can see myself driving for SRT. I like the idea of pulling a large freezer, and coast-to-coast sounds absolutely fantastic. Send me to NYC.Voodoo Pyg and Chinatown Thank this. -
That’s one Drivers perspective, although this is old news what they did to the driver and his family a few years ago would’ve turned me off from them I don’t care if they drove to the moon and back. In the search bar just type in trucker dies in SRT truck for the story
