What's asphalt hauling like?

Hot.

 

I've only ever done it in the Northeast so keep that in mind. The silos they mid into will typically have an air operated spout and usually, but not always, you'll be on a scale to get an accurate read. They'll want it tarped, and if it's raining you'll likely have to have extra flaps on a dump truck to secure. For us it's all end dump into a paver or an MTV that stores up to 50 tons and feeds the paver. While dumping here you'll ride on rollers in the paver until you're done, then move to a clean out before it cools and freezes on the truck. It's hot, but not terrible with boots and regular gloves with the batting on the palms. In other areas I know they operate belly dumps that lay the mix out in a path before the paver. That's probably a bit easier, but you have to move while dumping to spread properly.

 

Lots of night paving around the larger cities.......

Mostly by the hour, no off roading to beat up the truck.
