I am currently a school teacher. State budget cuts and RIF's (reductin in force) cause me to look elsewhere for a job or career. All 3 kids are grown and gone. Jobs are the only things that separate my husband and I, so team driving seems to be the answer. He has a CDL, hasn't used it for 20 years, but kept it just in case. I need to train to drive, but don't know what co. Any suggestions? Leaning heavily toward Swift, but considering CREngland.![]()

I'm a newbe too. But I would say go with Swift over England. I trained with England and got my CDL through them. Then I did a month of phase one triaining. No problem. Then, two weeks into my phase two i thought things were going great. I was super excited to get my own truck and do what I have come to love...drive. But good ol England had other plans for me. First off, they deicded all students would be required to do an extra 4 weeks training. This was horrible. Doable but horrible. But then they pulled anotherone on me and decided all new drivers had to go team not solo. THat was the last straw for me. How dare they take my 3grand and promise that going company solo is an option after training and then change their policy. I've come to learn that this is another one of their ways of forcing new guys (and gals) into their leasing program. I start with Swift on May 26th. I will have to do another 6 weeks training but I dont mind. I just look at it as a positive and think with 12 weeks totla of over the orad training I'll be that much more prepared to be on my own. I just prey Swift doesnt decided to double the training time or decided newbees have to go team after training like England didi. Good luck!

There are plenty of companies out there that will take students besides these two. You need to look at other options as well. If you are stuck on these 2 then I would tell you your gonna be about 6 in one 1/2 dozen the other. Either way good luck and wish you the best. DO your homework before committing to anyone first.

Hey also a newbe. Thinking about swift or CRE. Would like to know if anybody out there can give a lil insight in which would be better. Or what to expect from both. Don't know a whole lot about neither one. Just looking for a good experience and a good school to help me become a great safe driver.
Thanks in advance, -
i think any one of those two would be alright only if they let your husband be your trainer. i met alot of couples in the past few years that have went that route and are doing great. to me if you can live together at home why cant you make it on the road. good luck
