Someone on another site said this could be for the Kingpin. I guess it could be used to adjust the Kingpin locking jaws?? -
Tell your son to quit while he's still got his sanity & youth. 29+ years in Advertising, 18 years of that in print design & the last 15 doing web design) this is a DYING field, I CAN ASSURE YOU! I was the kid (back in the late 70's) who went and bought his first computer instead of a 78' Camero - then I built a computer, then I learned all the relavent major software applications that are still being used today.
If nobody else will be honest with you, please allow me! Want to take a guess WHY I learned how to drive a truck and got my CDL? Good Luck to him just the same. Tell him, "study of materials science" OR "health care industry" - tell him to REALLY think about his future. -
When I first looked at the picture it looked to big for the kingpin lock..if the sleeve is the same diameter as the kingpin on the trailer..it is where you store your kingpin lock when not using it....I always kept mine in the box it came in, in a plastic bag, in my side box. Keeping it out in the open could make the internal workings..locking mechanism...start looking like those chains hanging on the rack...and when rust sets in your key isn't going to do much good.
-
Now that makes a lot of sense! I will check and see if the diameter of this would be for the kingpin lock on Monday.

Ford,
I am researching companies in preparation for a second career in trucking agter retiring from the Army. If you had it to do all over again, would you still choose Swift? The company is looking good to me due to their size and terminal locations. I will probably retire in NC and figure locating close to a terminal would make hometime easier, I might be wrong though.
