Looking at a job that makes this run nightly and back the next day. Never ran this region before. I know its cold and it snows but clueless on terrain (mountains, steep grades). Is this chain up type weather? How are the roads maintained during the winter?
Thanks everyone.
Hows the drive from Billings MT to Denver in winter?

90 to Sheridan WY then 25 south at I think Buffalo below Sheridan. Pass through Casper etc. Straight to Denver.
Here are pics of ice near Sheridan WY

Are triples legal in Montana and wyoming? -
i really miss 90. i use to drive from nc to Seattle back to nc every week
-
I don't know anything about triples except that there are a few places you could run em. But Im not the one to ask about that.
The drive is not that bad, just a little bit of horsies until you get clear of Casper.
This being halloween, if anything thats scary would be Yellowstone about a hour to your west. If that goes you have maybe a hour or less to get south of Cheyenne before being buried in ashfall among other problems that is expected to kill everything in that immediate region.Upinsmoke, D.Tibbitt and truckdriver31 Thank this. -
Montana? To Denver? In the winter? About as unpredictable as you could get.

Then theres Loveland pass if you have hazmat. Chaining sucks until you get the hang of it. Untangle all your chains and get them right before your trip, it’s time worth spent.

I must be sick because this post is making me miss the chaos of Wyoming in the winter. It’s like a different planet. I got held up in Laramie for 33 hours once because the road was closed. Missed my sons birthday party because of that one. Guess I’m better off with the Midwest flatland.
Upinsmoke, x1Heavy, truckdriver31 and 1 other person Thank this.
