Holland FW35Z800XL00, non slider, 540,000 miles, gas tanker, Volvo truck.
I was feeling some movement between truck and trailer, especially taking off and stopping, showed it to mechanic who said "some movement in jaws, but also bushings.
I tightened the nut 1/2 turn which helped a lot, but as I was looking over the bushing area to see how to change them, I noticed the inner holes where the pivot pins go through the ears on the 5th wheel, (not the bushing) is wallowed out so there is about 1/4" between the pins and hole edges on one side, the other side is egg shaped. I haven't pulled the pins and since the pin head covers the hole on the outside, I don't know if those are the same. I assume that's where most of the movement is now coming from. The bushings are actually rubber, so even with new bushings I think I would still get movement.
I may be able to get pics this weekend.
Is there a fix, recall, or is it just worn out?
5th wheel junk?

Are yoou talking about the bushings where the fifth wheel is mounted to the stands, if so just change them.
-
Tanks are hard on 5th wheels. I often rebuild them but not if the if it has other problems.
So go with truckdriver31! I thank Jost makes a plate that will go on those Holland mounts also. You might check and compare prices. Not recommending anything. Hollands have a long track record and it is good.Goodysnap and spsauerland Thank this. -

Well that pic didn't work.
New Jost plus upgraded bushings for $825truckdriver31 Thanks this. -
I would adjust that Jost everytime you change your oil with a tank. I find them to be inferior to a Holland. Rebuild our Holland's, but we have no-tilt tops for frameless.
Oxbow, BoxCarKidd and truckdriver31 Thank this. -

There I got it to work. It almost looks like the pins are worn a bit, but I don't think it's as bad as I first thought. Anyone know what the spec is for too much wear?
The Jost has a 5 year warranty, and the bushings a 3 year warranty. -
