Okay, you all win. But I have had to deal with people like that. And yes, if you check with the state of Arizona, yes an overweight ticket goes on YOUR record. NOT the company's record. If you'd like to see a criminal records check, I'll be quite happy to post one. And it's not *just* Stevens either. EVERY single company out there will screw us, the drivers, because we have become complacent and unwilling to stand up for what's right! And no, the insurance was NOT through an independent insurer. It was the company's. They are the ones who set it up and then proceeded to set him up. But if you so desire, I will never speak of this again because it looks like it upsets your world. I don't blame you for wanting to stay in your candy-coated world. I'm not blaming anyone or anything. Just stating facts as they have come my way. You are entitled to your opinion and I will be hoping fervently that you or anyone else won't get burned. And MY DAC is in great shape because I WON'T allow that kind of b/s to happen to me. If the wheels ain't turning, you ain't earning. Sitting still for places like Kraft, Winn-Dixie, Safeway for examples, is what is getting *all* of us in deeper into the manure and why some drivers fall. I, for one, don't intend on letting someone else dictate to me what kind of weight I haul because I *know* it will go on me. Period. And until it happens to you, when you're left hanging by your company, then you will never realize just what kind of records you have.
I won't be coming back to this part of the forum again as it still hurts me to talk about my *trusted* friend. He deserves waaaaaaaaaaaaay better than what happened to him. Good luck to you all is all I can say. -
I have pulled iced broccoli across Arizona, at 85,000 lbs, and it Did NOT go on my record, I pulled into the scale went inside, and paid for the over wieght, with a Tcheck from stevens. No BS it is all in how one handles the situation. Now if I had tried to avoid the scale, and was caught over wieght, then yes it would have went on my record, but it did not, and that is a Fact.
As far as the insurance, Stevens does NOT underwright the insurance, it is another company, there for it is not stevens insurance, it is just the insurance they offer you just as every other company does. Stevens does self insure for the workers comp insurance, and does not use The State of Texas for workers comp, but life and health insurance are from a independent insurance company.
Yes your friends family deserves better treatment than they recieved from the insurance company that underwrote the insurance. Today the insurance industry is in a sad state of affairs, and are almost useless, as people will litigate over everything, there for people who actually deserve the pay out do not get it.
As far as sitting still, to be legal we all have to sit still for 10 hours per day, as a solo driver, and a good driver plans the sitting at the dock into their daily plans.
And a criminal history check will vary, state by state, county by county, what time frame it covers, and how much the company doing the back ground check cares to pay for the back ground check. There is not ONE single criminal history data base yet.
The DAC is a joke, a consumer report, that we all have to live with in the trucking industry. It is regulated just as your credit score is regulated. In other words, it is not.
You have a few things to learn about how corporate america works, and that you are just a cog in the bigger picture.
Anyone who thinks a company is out to screw you, has lost before he is ever hired. To make money for yourself, you have to make money for the person employing you. We are all employed by someone for our services. -

Oh Yes there is.
It's called the NCSC I believe.
Not used a whole lot but it is used.
Canada customs and U.S. customs use it.
Most people in the trucking industy do not have access to it or know about it, but it does exist.
Trust me I know from first hand exp.Baack Thanks this. -
wow i guess my time with stevens was a little better.i was enrolled in the driver emergancy fund and in april of 08 my 2 year old termanaly ill grandson died.stevens flew my wife ( who was just a passenger ) and my self home and helped me a little with like flowers ans such, and then flew us back from atlanta to amarillio and all i had to repay was my wifes part of plane fare,at like $ 50.00 a week.as far as over weight yes i was told to go ahead with a tropicana load over the qc !!! and they paid for all those ticketts also and they are not on any of my reports.
im not sure what all happend with your friend cause i just got out of hospitol for havin a major spinal surgery and im playin catch up on the forum , and its hard to do cause i can only sit for like 10 min. then i have to try to walk or lay back down.good luck and god bless -
NC sorry for the lost of your friend but that doesn't mean what you experienced was expected on everyone else. Did you contact your company when u got an overweight and have them say in writing to roll along with it???? If not then its your own fault for not getting anything to CYA. As far as an overweight citation. Its marked as a NON MOVING violation anyways. It may go on your stupid DAC but don't get points counted against you and also won't be a criminal record on you.
WTF you think you'll get a criminal record? So you are also blaming stevens for insurance coverage??? Do you people not read before you sign??? Apparently not if you are complaining about the coverage amount after the incident. Its not like stevens forces you to get their insurance!!!
Just like Irish said (and those are the real facts) I know cuz I was a former stevens driver too. They do have a driver emergency fund that you couldve signed up for and they will try to help. Of course your probably gonna say that's b/s and all that crap that you've spewed so far. -
Just wanted to know from you current Stevens solo drivers how often you get to California, where I live. Looking at Stevens as a possible employer. I'd imagine you get produce out of SoCal. Also, is there much Stevens traffic on the I5 and I80 lanes through the central valley, like Sacramento, Stockton? What freight would be inbound to those areas (beef, I'd imagine?). Thank you.
-
National Criminal Information Computer NCIC, and IT DOES NOT cover every jurisdiction, as it is up to the local law enforcement agencies to enter information into the data base, and they do NOT enter everything.
Only Law enforcement has access to the NCIC, and can not be used in an employment back ground check.
Yes Canada Customs and US customs, being law enforcement agencies, can access the information on the NCIC. -
California always has freight coming out, Salinas, LA, Stockton, Fresno, Oakland. Freight going in, meat, kraft, wal mart, cambells...
I40 is used a lot more than I80 going into CA, and coming out for Stevens, than I80.925Ant Thanks this. -
NCIC is the correct word. Stands for the National Criminal Information Center.
2) It is not a central Database. It is a database that is used by federal law enforcment,
3) It is up to each individual city, county, state, or federal agency to imput information into the system. Which they must pay to do. they also must pay to retrieve info.
that is why you can have a warrant in one state and not be found in other. because that officers department doesnt use ncic. each state has their own database as does each city and county. which no law exist that demans them to relay the information to each other.
so in other words you can commit a murder in small town usa, alabama
if they dont enter the warrant into the towns database, then no officer can arrest you. if they dont enter the warrant into the county database then only a town officer can arrest you. if they enter in the county but not the state then only the county and town can arrest you. if you enter into the state databse but no the federal database then only that states officer can arrest.
the ncic is the only system once a warrant is entered to may any officer in any jurisdiction except out of the us jurisdictions can arrest you, unless your entered into Interpol then your screwed and can be arrested anywhere in the world, including the International space station
there is no central database. because each state, county, and town is soveriegn which means they can create their own law or enhance the higher authorities law in their own town or county
again which means if the state says there is a mandatory law that you serve 10 years for speeding in additiont hat county can make you serve time in their jail for it to.Baack Thanks this.
