I had a truck towed it for transmission popping out of gear. Twas an easy diag with the shifter moving around from 10 to 2 as half trans clutch housing bolts had fallen out and the other half were sheared off. After teardown every bolt clear into the flywheel was slathered with enough silver antisieze the guy musta used a whole tub on the job. I learned then that the stuff could get someone in real trouble.
Antisieze has its place. And a small tub last me a long.......long time.

I find I use antiseize a lot less now that I'm at the dealer. Its not a money thing, its a CYA thing if its warranty. Use the wrong sealant or put antiseize where the service procedure doesn't call for it and the dealer could very well end up eating a repair bill after the manufacturer kicks it back.

I use it on shock bolts, the whole bolt, makes changing them a breeze, next time. Keeps them from rusting.

Anti seize changes the torque of the fastener. Most dealers won't typically use it for warranty reasons.
That being said, I've put it on tie rod end tapers, I've put it on U-bolts, U-joints, wheels studs, barrel nuts, the list goes on. If you do your own Maintenance then you'll want to use it. It beats needing to heat a yoke to get it off or a U-joint cap to get it out.Rideandrepair and starmac Thank this. -

Putting antisieze on any wheel stud or nut of any vehicle is asking for trouble IMO. No manufacturers have ever suggested or recommended its use in such an application.
Alot of guys use it in areas whenever they have trouble getting things apart and that's the wrong reason to apply it.Isafarmboy, Rideandrepair, Wheeljack and 1 other person Thank this. -
Any type of lubricant on a stud will change the Torque, including oil that the truck stops use, because the manufacturer says it's acceptable to use. Proper torque methods can prevent issues with or without lubricant..Rideandrepair Thanks this.
