Attempting to run a SCR test through Insite will not allow because engine will not reach operating temperature. The highest the temp will reach is 189* . The fan clutch is engaged even thou the temps do not increase to over 208* when it should engage. Is there something other then the temp sensor that would cause the fan to be engaged . Thanks in advance

A/C system

There's 5 sensors associated with the ac system on an ISX. I changed 3 before I got the magic sensor.
They operate in a normally closed fashion. This allows a signal to go to your fan/clutch solenoid.
Take the lead off the sensor.
It's a plug. Two holes.
Take a piece of wire and insert it in the holes in the lead. You've now bridged the circuit.
Do this one by one until you're fan disengages.
That's your bad sensor.
Mine was the low pressure side at the compressor. -

It won't matter. You have a sensor that's open.
That prevents you're solenoid from closing.
It could even be the solenoid, but doubtful.habfleet Thanks this. -
Ok thanks for the info i will check the a/c sensors Monday. If i unplug the solenoid you can here it move
Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
Good luck. Could be a temp sensor. They're all that same two pin connector.

"turn off" the a/c high side pressure fan engage option with Insite and see if fan stays off. This is the easiest way to see if high side switch is bad. Sounds to me like the fan clutch is just "frozen". Build air to 120 lbs. Key off. Key back on, then take a piece of pipe and put one end on fan clutch and bang other end with hammer until it releases. If you want to do SCR test and diagnose fan issue later, just put a piece of cardboard in front of radiator before you test.
