I call shenanigans. I live just about an hour from Hemet and their gas is usually about 20-30 cents more expensive than ours since they’re a good ways out of the SBD/Riverside area. I’m out on the road so I called a couple of friends at home and they’re seeing prices in the 3.60-3.70 range. So I googled it and unsurprisingly most of the gas prices in Hemet are showing just under 4.00 and the highest price I could find there is 4.20 per gallon. The only places I’ve ever seen gas prices well into the 5.00 per gallon range are in Dorris CA, Lee Vining CA (both waaaaay out in the sticks) and this one small gas station/truck stop on I-40 between Barstow and Needles. Not sure of the name but you’ll know if you’ve stopped there because EVERYTHING is overpriced and they have signs in the store saying (and I’m paraphrasing here) “it costs a lot to ship stuff out here so our prices are high, if you don’t like it go somewhere else”.D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

Please tell me that's photoshopped lol. What in the literal ####? Lol. I topped the car off yesterday and I think it was $2.46 and I was #####ing I'm my head how it went up lol.
D.Tibbitt and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -

Regular gas in Eureka yesterday was 4.12 a gallon. They're always a little higher than most places because of transportation costs.
EDIT...If you're going to be trucking in the Sierras, the Central Valley, or anywhere on the coast, don't count on being able to get fuel at all.
PG&E is shutting off electrical power on a wide scale to avoid powerline related wildfires. Nobody knows where or when the outages will occur or how long they'll last.
Even PG&E's public relations people are arguing the whens and wheres.
They even have an acronym for the power shutoffs...PSPS...Public Safety Power Shutdowns.
Gotta have an acronym, ya know.Last edited: Oct 29, 2019

I checked Gasbuddy.com and some of the stations in that area were around the $3.89 to $4.19 mark(depending on what grade of gasoline you get).
Now remember that there are some wildfires near the area,so I wouldn’t be surprised if some of those stations would be taking advantage of the situation and jacking up the prices, especially if PG&E are doing that rolling blackout nonsense.Roadgeek395 and Bakerman Thank this. -
My friend lives in the Santa Rosa area and she said PG&E has turned off both electric and natural gas. She said some gas stations were running out of gas and people are in a panic. I'm sure some greedy gas stations are taking advantage of this.
