We developed the non-drill mount specifically for company drivers who cannot modify the truck. It uses 3M "aircraft tape" designed to hold things on the outside of airplanes. The KEY to it is that it is HEAT activated. Per the included instructions you must clean the area with something to remove any grease, dirt, or grime with a solvent like methanol or some other cleaner that doesn't leave a residue. Measure beforehand so you know exactly where you are going to place it and then stick it on. Now take a small torch or a heat gun and heat the plate so that it is just beyond a temperature where you can touch it with your hand (say 120 - 130 degrees.) Now push against the plate. Repeat this 3 times. Finally put a bead of silicone or RTV around the edges of the bracket so that high pressure water from the truck wash can't be sprayed under. At this point the bracket is extremely well-attached. I have hung off them and I weight 220 pounds and the Qube weighs 17.
To take it off, REPEAT the heating process and it will "unbond" and come off. There will be some adhesive residue left that comes off with any solvent (again like methanol or isopropyl alcohol) without leaving and blemishes. It can then be reused on another rig as long as you let us know to fire you off anther set of fresh tape.
On a V10 there is only the coax cable to your receiver in the sleeper. On a V20 or V30 there is the coax and a 12V wire that needs to be tapped into any of the many 12 volt wires in the cab or sleeper (like the back of a lighter socket.) My favorite way to run these is down the back of truck and up under into the sleeper where the QualComm wire runs in. If you don't have a QualComm, don't worry because all modern rigs have plug up underneath the sleeper where you can run wire in. If you own your truck you could drill a 1/2 hole up by the Qube and run directly in that way too, but most just use the method of going under. Take another look at the pics of the trucks I posted earlier and you will see the wire running down this way.
There is no way that they can just "pull" that bracket off. However a very motivated thief could use a ladder and unbolt it from the bracket with some tools, but it would take them some time and visibility of course.
Yes. We have made a bracket that clamps on to either of your mirror brackets that can be easily popped off and on at will.
Hope that clears it up a bit. Good questions!

Hi Don,
It clears it up very well. Like I said, it will be a few months before I am ready to buy. In the meantime, I have your site bookmarked with notes and stars added to it. Like I said, I like to watch TV. -
Yea I'll second that. There is nothing more boring than setting on a restart. I'm a pretty patient man, but I do have my limits.
Thanks for all the info. It's very much appreciated. -
how much is the monty rate with the NFL pakage on the dish?
-
Dude! They rake you over on that thing. It's $300 for the season broken down into 5 monthly payments of $59.95. Also, only DirectTV has it so they can charge what they want.
"Miss Dieselboss" is a Vikings fanatic so in order to get them every Sunday here in the West, we "have" to get the package. If I don't... well...
bad things happen.
Leftlane101 Thanks this. -

im interested in the mirror bracket? im getting the V1000 to carry with me on camping trips.. also is there a 12volt receiver or will i need a converter? also i have i dish network at home can i share this acount on the road and if so how? or do i need a new account?
-
I am not aware of any 12 volt recr. , since you have dish at home you'll need 1 of the recr. from their, or purchase another to put in the truck.
-
Mirror Bracket - yes, we have one. Obviously you can not leave the Qube out there when you are driving. ($69.95)
12V receiver - I have never seen that Dish Network or Direct TV makes a 12V receiver, but ultimately you could call them to verify for sure.
Yes you order an additional receiver from your home Dish Network account or take one from your house when you are out on the road.
