It's either emissions gone bad or a act of covering up a killing over a drug deal gone bad or something stupid. Not that fire is going to cover up too much.

I like to know how many of you that sleep in your truck that have carbon monoxide or smoke alarms , it should be standard equipment.
Those sleepers with no doors or escape windows could be a death trap if a fire started in your engine compartment or dash while your sleeping.
And the fire extinguisher is bolted to the floor next to the drivers seat and door , out of reach , prisons have better fire and monoxide protection than a sleeper truck does.Last edited: Oct 31, 2019

There are a lot of individuals with a criminal backround who have been truck drivers at one point in their life. They know enough about the trucking business to know that most drivers do not carry a weapon, they know how to disable a truck quickly(just yank the red gladhand off the trailer, that tractor and driver are trapped.)
In other words we are sitting ducks. Lots of bad guys know it and take advantage of it.FlaSwampRat, Coffey and mjd4277 Thank this. -
While small town crime is less, it still exists and can be just as violent as big city crime. And lots of criminals pass through small towns every day.
I remember a small convenience store that was robbed one night, a very rural one close to the NM and Tx line on I 40. two people inside the store killed and one truck driver that just happened to be sleeping there was also shot, iirc he survived.
There was also a bar very near the state line and the owners wife was killed in a robbery from a passer by, I did not know her, but did know her husband., population in that little place is probably less than 50. -

The bar was at old indee, just a mile or two from the state line, and we are talking over 30 years ago, not like these things are something that has just started happening. Violence has been around as long as people, and there never was a designated place for it to happen.

I had an inverted box almost catch fire. It was installed behind the drivers seat. It started smoking before I turned it off.
Bud A. Thanks this.
