Geesh, some of you guys are hung up on interstates.
Houston to ft worth, 287 to amarillo, I-40 to Albuquerque 550 to shiprock and hit 491, done it many times. It is all good running, and I like it better than going to wyoming just to stay on an interstate.

287 from Interstate 25 cuts of 20 minutes or so. That's the route I take.

Go 40 and cut across the corner of Colorado. It's good road.

Seen this movie a bunch of times.

This wonderful time of the year WY can give you surprise with winds and snow. Good source to check winds is www.nullschool.net. You can rout your trip to avoid head and cross winds.

WY posts their road weather conditions here. It’s really helpful when trip planning or booking a load.

I’ve run the numbers in the past and decided not to. Here are the numbers:

    Denver to Laramie
    I-25 N to I-80 W
    86 miles
    1 hr 13 min
    70.7 mph (cars)
Road: freeway all the way with a 20-25 mph connection to I-80.

    I-25 N, CO-14, to US-287
    69 miles
    1 hr 9 min
    60 mph (cars)
    Road: some traffic lights.

    How to calculate speed:

    9 min / 60 min = 0.15
    0.15 + 1 hr = 1.15
    69 miles / 1.15 = 60 mph

Maybe I was confusing myself with minutes/miles... So its 17 miles shorter... Close enough to the 20 I was think it was time wise.

    I like your detailed numbers!!!
