Is Mr. Haney still around? I need some help. I swapped my Cummins out for a 3406e 1LW on the block but the Ecm is saying it’s a 5EK and the shop says I can’t turn it up more than 410 hp at 22 pounds of boost and that I’ll have to replace the cam, injectors, turbo and pistons to get it to the 550 I want.

you need to verify the injectors, camshaft, turbo and pistons in the engine.

the block may be old and it may have been built as a 2ws or 5ek.

however if it is a 1LW it will die at 550hp

Thanks for the responses. Well we’re gonna have a go around then. The shop I bought it from sold it as a 1LW and cat verified from the serial number on the block that it’ll go up to 550.

    A lot bad info here.

Lots of 1LW engine can be re rated or come rated at 550 from factory. And if you ran the serial number by cat and it's good for 550 then it will already have steel top pistons and hard parts for that HP. A 5EK ECM and 1LW ECM are the same. Both 40 pin. What matters is the correct flash file for your engine serial number is in the ecm.
