Well I am unemployed now. Spent all day cleaning out my truck and scraping company info off the fleet. Second company that I have went down with the ship so to speak. Now I really need to find something fast. I have a wife and son to support now. Last time it was no big deal as my wife was working and I just went on her insurance till I found something. I have 2 years otr experience from 4 years ago and have been doing local for 2.5 years now in a box truck. I know the economy is down and insurance companies pull the strings on who gets hired so good jobs are hard to find. I really want to pull a tank but if the pay is there I will go there. Any suggestions for a clean MVR driver that has been off the big road for a few years?

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.
Just got my pink slip

You might want to give Indian River Transport a call. You'll be running otr but they definitely have work. They're bread and butter so to speak is orange juice (tanker outfit). They are a Florida based company and I actually worked for them a few years ago. I got home when I needed to and they paid me quite well. One of the perks is you get to drive a large car (379 Pete) and pull nothing but air ride tankers. Good luck.

I drive for Averitt Express(Cookeville TN).
We got a bulliten this week saying they are looking for flatbed drivers. It is a new division. Don't remember the locations though.
Flatbedding may not be for you, but it is an excellent company. After 6 months you are allowed to request a transfer to another division.
They are also looking for drivers for the Dollar General account. Hard work. All those openings are in TX and OK.Last edited by a moderator: Jul 18, 2009

You could always look into the local beer, soda, candy, food distributors,.....Sometimes those local gigs are way better than one would think,....

My daughter manages a convenience store and tells me those beer guys knock down decent bucks. Paid by the case. If you hustle you can do well.
Young mans game though. -
Is Averitt somehow tied in with First Fleet?
-
first fleet is the parent co.

Yes, First Fleet and First Express.
Owned by the same guy but operated separately. -
Try the local bulk transportation, or cement people. seems to be more stable than freight right now

That off the road is going to hurt....
