A bandaid is when we fix the wrong issue. Your backing isnt the issue. Its the guy with the seniority complex between his ears insisting this be done a harder way than it has to be. Fixing him is simple, just be a man about it.
"Jim youre the boss, i will do it your way. Ive watched you do it, ive practiced it and i still have a more difficult time with that than my own way and sooner or later i am going to hit another truck. When they call me in the office i am going to raise all sorts of hell making sure everyone knows you forced me to do it that way against my will. If it costs me a job ill make sure it costs you one too on my way down. Are we clear?"
When you link his performance to yours, he will make a change to protect himself from the risk of your errors.
I could use a lil backing advice.

The sounds of crunching fiberglass usually tell you to pull up and adjust your backing angle.
Hope that helps?Brettj3876, S.V.Buyck, starmac and 7 others Thank this. -

Or just back into the hole with windows down and ears up for yelling, cussing and whoas.
IF trucker was a horse...
Blindside is a necessary evil. You think with 10,000 cameras in 4K resolution feeding to a nice 3 foot monitor on top of your dash will help you see back there.
Pullups are not too bad, just calculated. Whats really bad is when one wriggles under the trailer trying to get it just so. =)D.Tibbitt and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
This is the docks for one of our regular customers. Similar tight conditions for a sight side.
I would get as close and straight to the trucks in dock as possible before starting the swing to the right. Then cut it hard left so truck was at a 45 to the trailer. Then back straight and push the trailer so it would pivot on the tandems, then turn out of the "push" and straight back. Typically we would use the dock where the blue truck is in.x1Heavy, D.Tibbitt and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
If you're more comfortable with a blindside, then do it. The object of the game is to get the trailer straight in the door without hitting anything. Your senior yard guy is not your supervisor, correct? Then he can do it how he likes, and you do it your way. Just don't hit stuff. It really is that simple, don't overthink, execute.

Based on that photo, looks like blind side is the best way in.
You got 'em both in with a minimum of hassle without breaking anything.
I don't see the problem.
Maybe next time drop the trailers where you are in the photo, and Mr Crusty Senior Yard Man can deal with them.
Well done, sir.FlaSwampRat Thanks this.
