Speak for yourself. Some of us have other skills but we choose to do this job because 1. we love, 2. it's in our blood, 3. maybe were retarded LOL
Just because we drive a truck doesn't mean we are low-skill, uneducated as you put it. Maybe you are but all of us are not.
Don't become a truck driver,or get out while you still can

youre not safe in the medical field either theyre closing a hospital in my town
Working Class Patriot and notarps4me Thank this. -
There are crappy drivers in every country. I have seen Canadian, American, German, Yugoslavian, Spanish, whatever, both good and bad, all on North American highways. The bad ones make all the rest look bad, regardless of nationality. Sure, there are Canadian idiots driving in the US. There are also US idiots driving in Canada.
Please don't lump ALL Canadians in with that Quebecois moron. I am French Canadian, and even I hate the Quebecers because they feel that they don't have to learn English, or if they DO know English, they only use it in emergencies.
I am a proud Canadian, but you'll never hear me talking down about people from any other country. I am not prejudiced against anyone based on race, color, creed, what have you. I AM, however, prejudiced against MORONS, REGARDLESS of race, color or creed.
In parting, on behalf of ALL Canadians, I'd like to apologize for subjecting the rest of the world to William Shatner, Celine Dion, and other performers who should be categorized as weapons of mass destruction. Peace out.Lil'Devil, outerspacehillbilly, kajidono and 2 others Thank this. -
I have nothing against a higher education. I wanted to finish my college while I was off the road. Maybe some day. The point I am making is I think that everyone who has the chance should pursue a higher level of education. The problem is I hear all these hate truck driving drivers say don't truck go to college. At least trucking is a short time investment in school where you can actually get paid sooner to live compared to years of schooling that may not provide a job when you graduate. Then you spend years paying off the schooling while you deliver those pizzas to the driver who is taking his break.

Trucking offers a different way of life than the regular grind.
I can go back into the account area anytime. I prefer not to be in the office and listening to their muzak system and the office gossip and complaining that makes a trucker seem quiet.Working Class Patriot Thanks this. -
Yeah, the office politics are ridiculous, can't stand em. At least in the truck when you get tired of hearing it you can just pull out of the truck stop.
-
Or just turn off the radio and sit in relative silence.
-
But then I might miss a deal on some slightly used straps, a camera, a new laptop. It'd drive me nuts staring at the dark radio. It doesn't bother me if I'm settling in for the night but I'm usually in the receiver's parking lot by then.
-
Mine is never on in the truck stop.
I was referring to when driving. -
Nah, can't turn it off when driving. I need to know what's around the next bend if something's happened up ahead. That never lasts long anyway. They fade out of range pretty quickly.
I like hearing the chatter out there, it's funny sometimes. Guys get on and sing, or tell stories, recite poems, all kinds of stuff. I was rolling along in the dark the other night, somebody came on and said, "It's a bird! It's a plane! .........Aw hell it's just a Swift truck." I thought that was hilarious.
I do turn it down and the stereo up sometimes when they get to jabbering on and on and on. Just becomes background noise to me.
